Adani Power Limited, a prominent player in the energy sector, took a significant step towards community welfare by joining forces with its corporate social responsibility (CSR) arm, the Adani Foundation. Together, they orchestrated a thoughtful initiative, distributing scholarships amounting to Rs 20 lakhs to deserving students residing in the vicinity of the thermal power plant located in Yellur village, Kaup Taluk, Udupi District. This endeavour aimed to provide financial support to identified students from 12 Grama Panchayats surrounding the Adani-owned plant.
The scholarship distribution event took place at the open Auditorium of Buntara Bhavan in Padubidri. A total of 773 students, acknowledged for their academic achievements, received valuable scholarships.

Adani Foundation’s Educational Initiatives and Focus on Rural Development

Kishore Alva, the Executive Director of Adani Group, took the opportunity to shed light on the diversified CSR efforts undertaken by Adani Power Limited in collaboration with Adani Foundation. These efforts extend beyond education, encompassing health, rural infrastructure development, sports, and cultural activities. Under the broad umbrella of Educational Initiatives, the Adani Foundation distributed scholarships to students who exhibited exceptional academic performance during the academic year 2021-22. Alva underscored the foundation’s commitment to eradicating illiteracy and advancing education in rural areas. Expressing concern over the declining enrollment in government schools, he emphasized the foundation’s role in motivating students by providing educational kits to approximately 7500 students in 80 government schools in Kaup Taluk.

Udaan Program

One noteworthy program that has emerged from the visionary ethos of the Adani Foundation is ‘Udaan.’ This program has successfully invited over 15,000 students to the UPCL plant. The primary objective of ‘Udaan’ is to not only enhance students’ academic knowledge but also to instil a vision for their future. This program plays a pivotal role in shaping the educational landscape of the region and inspiring students to aspire to academic excellence.
Gurme Suresh Shetty, MLA, Kaup, lauded Adani’s developmental strides in education, health, and rural infrastructure. He particularly commended the scholarship initiative, considering it a significant contribution to uplifting the educational standards of rural students. Shetty urged scholarship recipients to view this opportunity as a stepping stone for higher education and encouraged them to contribute actively to societal development.
