Adani Energy bags Rs 2,800 Cr transmission project in Gujarat for manufacturing Green Hydrogen

Adani Energy Solutions Ltd (AESL) has announced that it has won a power transmission project which will supply green electrons for manufacturing Green Hydrogen and Green Ammonia in Mundra, Gujarat. The project costs around Rs 2,800 crore and is expected to be completed within the next 3 years.
This project named “Transmission System for Green Hydrogen/Ammonia Manufacturing Potential in Mundra, Gujarat” involves upgrading the Navinal (Mundra) electrical substation by adding two large 765/400kV transformers. Additionally, a 75 km long 765kV double-circuit line will be constructed to connect this substation to the Bhuj substation.

Project details

The project will see the addition of 150cKM of transmission lines and 3,000 MVA of transformation capacity to AESL’s overall transmission infrastructure, taking them to 25,928c KM and 87,186 MVA, respectively.
AESL won the project under the Tariff Based Competitive Bidding (TBCB) mechanism and PFC Consulting Limited was the bid process coordinator. The project SPV was formally transferred to AESLon March 20, 2025.
India is aiming to produce 5 million tonnes per annum of green hydrogen by 2030 and will need 125 gigawatts of renewable energy for that. The government is targeting at least 500 GW of non-fossil power capacity by 2030, up from 165 GW currently. However, a lack of power transmission infrastructure is leading to delays in setting up renewable energy projects and cancellation of projects.

Skill Development Programme – CSR of Adani Group

Meanwhile, talking about the group’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives, Adani Group has launched a nationwide ‘Skill and Employ’ programme aimed at strengthening India’s workforce and supporting the ‘Make in India’ initiative. The programme, which is the largest of its kind in the country, will focus on developing a skilled talent pool for industries such as green energy, manufacturing, high-tech sectors, and industrial design, among others.
In partnership with the Indo-German Chamber of Commerce (IGCC), the program aims to align vocational and technical education with industry requirements. The IGCC, which has been active since 1956 and is the largest German bi-national chamber of commerce abroad, will help shape the initiative by leveraging its expertise in vocational education and training. With over 4,000 member companies, IGCC is well-positioned to assist in shaping the program’s curriculum to meet international standards.
