Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary inaugurated the ‘Aangan Ka Milan’ program on September 29, 2026, at a ceremony held at the Anganwadi Centre within Phulwarisharif High School in Patna, Bihar. The event commenced with the Chief Minister lighting a ceremonial lamp, symbolising the launch of the state-wide initiative aimed at strengthening Anganwadi services.

During the event, the Chief Minister engaged with both children and Anganwadi workers, referred to as Sevika, to assess the facilities and activities at the centre. The children expressed their enthusiasm by reciting poems and introducing themselves, which the Chief Minister appreciated, further distributing sweets to encourage their participation.

As part of the programme, various stalls organised by the Social Welfare Department and the Directorate of Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) were also inspected by the Chief Minister. He presented symbolic cheques to beneficiaries of key initiatives such as the ‘Mukhyamantri Kanya Utthan Yojana’ and ‘Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana’, reinforcing the government’s commitment to supporting women and children.

Significant Ceremonial Activities and Acknowledgments

The ceremony included traditional activities such as the ‘God-bharai’ (baby shower) for pregnant women and the ‘Annaprashan’ (first feeding of solid food) for young children. The Chief Minister acknowledged the efforts of Anganwadi workers, helpers, and ASHA workers by awarding them certificates of appreciation, highlighting their vital role in community welfare.

Nutritional kits were distributed among beneficiaries, reflecting the government’s focus on health and nutrition. The Chief Minister also released a booklet titled ‘Suposhit Bachpan Ki Rasoi’ (Kitchen for Well-Nourished Childhood), aimed at providing guidance on child nutrition.

Interactions with beneficiaries highlighted the impact of various schemes. Participants shared their experiences regarding the assistance they received and the services available at Anganwadi centres. Feedback indicated that financial aid from these schemes is being employed to support nutritional and health needs, showcasing the programme’s positive reach within communities.

Government’s Commitment to Improving Anganwadi Services

In his address, the Chief Minister affirmed the government’s commitment to providing vital services to mothers and children, stressing the need for continuous improvements. He invited suggestions from local residents on enhancing facilities at Anganwadi centres, pledging to address all reasonable proposals.

Emphasising the importance of community support, he mentioned the government’s objective of ensuring both maternal and child health and providing quality education and nutrition in early childhood. The Chief Minister noted that roughly 115,000 Anganwadi workers are presently dedicated to serving families across the state, reflecting a significant workforce committed to child development.

Additionally, he recognised the need to ensure regular access to nutritious food, fruits, and milk for children at all Anganwadi centres. He articulated that strengthening children’s health is fundamental to fostering a robust state and nation, further supporting his agenda for the development and empowerment of the state’s youth.
