JK Cement Ltd. is one of India’s leading manufacturers of Grey Cement and one of the leading White Cement manufacturers in the World. Over four decades, the Company has partnered India’s multi-sectoral infrastructure needs on the strength of its product excellence, customer orientation and technology leadership. JK Cement’s operations commenced with commercial production at its flagship grey cement unit at Nimbahera, Rajasthan in May 1975.
The Company has an installed Grey Cement capacity of 24 MnTPA, making it one of the top cement manufacturers in the Country. JK White Cement is sold across 43 countries around the globe and the Company has a strong international presence with two subsidies, JK Cement Works Fujairah FZC and JK White Cement (Africa) Ltd.

CSR spent for FY 24

The company spent Rs 20.87 crores as Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) expenditure for the FY 2023-24 benefitting over 5 lakh beneficiaries, as claimed in its Annual Report. Major focus areas include Healthcare, Education, Rural Transformation, Livelihood and Environment Sustainability.

CSR for Healthcare

JK Cement regularly organises medical camps, eye checkups and blood donation camps for the local communities in remote rural areas, where medicines are distributed for free. Addressing the acute lack of modern medical facilities in remote areas of states like Karnataka, Rajasthan and Haryana, the company has undertaken dynamic measures to bring healthcare within the reach of the general public.
In FY 24, the cement company provided comprehensive eye care services, including screenings, distribution of glasses, and facilitation of cataract surgeries in collaboration with Joshi Eye Institute, Hubli, Muddapur, Karnataka.
The company has been ensuring a consistent supply of potable water to roughly 3,000 residents of Jharli village, Haryana which has historically faced challenges in accessing safe and regular drinking water due to high total dissolved solids (TDS).
The company has supplied an A-scan Machine to the Government Community Health Centre in Merta, Nagaur, Rajasthan. This device aids ophthalmologists in precisely performing cataract surgeries and is expected to benefit approximately 600 individuals annually.

CSR for Education

JK Cement’s educational institutions comprise K-12 schools, universities, and technical institutes at various locations across India.
Apart from the above, the company has built a boundary wall at Chainpura School Ground, Rajasthan. At Chainpura Village Government Primary School, Rajasthan, learning kit was distributed to 118 students with each receiving a comprehensive kit that included a school bag, an assortment of essential stationery items, and a water bottle.

CSR for Improving Livelihoods

As part of its Community development CSR initiative, the company is working on several projects aimed at improving livelihoods. The Adarsh Farm Project aims to attain sustainable income via Climate-Smart Agriculture initiatives which has been launched in three villages of Rajasthan in collaboration with Arpan Seva Sansthan. It has directly benefitted 800 individuals and indirectly around 4,000 others, the company claims in its Annual Report. A dairy facility has been set up at Karunda village, Nimbahera, Rajasthan.
The JK Trust organised an animal treatment camp with support of JK Cement Ltd. The camp helped treat seasonal diseases and infertility among the cattle population and spread awareness among the public about proper cattle management and feeding. During the camp, around 116 animals were treated. The treatment camp benefitted around of 38 dairy farmers of surrounding villages. Ten veterinary camps were also conducted as part of its CSR providing essential medical care to approximately 1,541 cattle.
At least 34 women have received training at two centres located in Mangrol and Phalwa, Rajasthan. The training programmes include stitching, beauty parlour management, and soft toy making. This initiative aims to empower women by providing them with valuable skills for personal and economic development.

CSR for Rural Transformation

JK Cement, through its CSR has been working to enhance lives through substantial infrastructural projects to develop its surrounding areas. The company engages with the local communities through social initiatives, such as infrastructure development, livelihood support, community care, environmental protection, healthcare services and sports. The initiatives include installation of solar lights, construction of boundary walls, construction of guest house, roof sheds and community hall.

Environment Sustainability at JK Cement

As part of its Environment sustainability initiatives, JK Cement partners with the local administration around its plants to undertake afforestation and conduct plantation drives. It also undertakes regular technology updation for emission reduction, effluent management, and energy efficiency.
JK Cement is a member of the prestigious Indian Green Building Council. The company has been prioritising conservation, harvesting and management of water resources in the water-starved state of Rajasthan. Sustainable initiatives also include tree plantation, distribution of saplings, pond excavation etc.
