In a joint initiative, the Delhi High Court and Delhi Police have launched a series of interactive videos to educate minors about cyber safety, how to ensure their privacy is maintained and how to prevent themselves from falling prey to cyber bullying, stalking, sexting and other kinds of online frauds targeting this age group.
Educating young minds
The aim is to educate young minds through exciting challenges and mind-boggling riddles so that they take interest in learning and also become aware of cyber safety, which is a need of the hour in this digital age. The interactive video series will be shedding light on the dangers of online predators while equipping youngsters with self-protection strategies, announced Delhi Police.
Cyber stalking, bullying, sexting and online predators
The videos are available on the website dpinteractivevideos.in. The site features videos which spread awareness about cyber stalking, cyber bullying, sexting and online predators.
Informing about the same, the official Twitter handle of Delhi Police tweeted on Thursday, “Pause Before You Pose! Let’s guide children towards making safe choices online through #InteractiveVideo series. For instilling awareness about risks of sexting, #mustwatch the series & let the kids develop healthy digital footprint & protect their future.”
Another tweet by Delhi Police reads, “Be an Upstander, Not a Bystander! Encourage children to #mustwatch interactive video series on http://dpinteractivevideos.in & report #cyberbullying, support one another, to create a supportive online community. #TogetherWeRise #DelhiPolice.”
Awareness Workshop on Online Child Sexual Exploitation and Abuse
The videos were launched during an ‘Awareness Workshop on Online Child Sexual Exploitation and Abuse’. The videos were launched by Honourable Supreme Court judge P.S. Narasimha, Honourable High Court Chief Justice Satish Chandra Sharma and Commissioner of Police, Delhi, Sanjay Arora in the presence of dignitaries.
The event witnessed physical participation of over 200 children physically attended the event while a lot of school students also participated virtually.
Talking at the event, Commissioner of Police, Delhi, Sanjay Arora said that the most important tool to prevent crime, especially against vulnerable sections like children, is awareness. He also highlighted that police are working hard to ensure that the message reaches as many children as possible in Delhi.
