International footwear maker Crocs in partnership with CRY and Soles4Souls, has donated 5,000 pairs of shoes to migrant families in Cheeta Camp, Mankhurd, Maharashtra. This donation aims to provide relief to vulnerable families impacted by the COVID-19 crisis.
The CSR initiative is carried out by Jeevan Dhara, a project supported by nonprofit organisation CRY (Child Rights and You), that works at the grassroots level and has a deep connection to those at Cheeta Camp. The donation will provide easy-to-clean and comfortable shoes to the most socially vulnerable population in the community bringing much-needed ease of mind and overall wellbeing during this unprecedented time.
Kreeanne Rabadi, Regional Director (West) said, “In this pandemic situation that has brought these marginalized communities’ immense difficulties, receiving these high-quality shoes with the support of Soles4Souls will certainly be a bright moment for the children. We look forward to a continued partnership with Crocs to enhance the lives of our children”
Buddy Teaser, President & CEO, Soles4Souls said “Helping to distribute thousands of pairs of Crocs around the region to more than a half dozen countries is another great example of how for-profit and not for profit companies can solve business challenges while helping those in need.”
Earlier in the year, Crocs and Priyanka Chopra Jonas joined forces to support the frontline workers by donating 10,000 pairs of shoes in India and US under the global donation programme “A Free Pair for Healthcare”. Under the CSR programme, the footwear brand has donated over 860,000 shoes across the globe to healthcare professionals.
Sumit Dhingra, Managing Director, Crocs India said, “We are hopeful that this donation will add comfort to the lives of migrant families. We will continue to work relentlessly and serve the community to ensure we reach out to those in need.”
