India Has Maximum Ships Crossing Hormuz, Maintains Balance: Rajnath

The CSR Journal Magazine

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh stated that India possesses the highest number of vessels that have transited the Strait of Hormuz, emphasising the country’s measured diplomatic approach amidst ongoing tensions in West Asia. Speaking in Lucknow on April 12, Singh attributed this achievement to the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, which has enabled India to maintain stability despite global instabilities.

Singh remarked on India’s ability to navigate challenges through diplomacy, noting the importance of strong domestic production in supporting the nation’s maritime activities. He pointed out that India’s established relations with both the United States and Iran have played a critical role in safeguarding its strategic interests in the region.

Economic Growth and Self-Reliance in Defence

The Defence Minister also underscored India’s economic resilience, highlighting that the nation is now ranked among the top four economies globally. He mentioned India’s transition from a previously weaker economic status to a position of strength, contributing to its ability to manage the effects of fluctuating energy prices stemming from the West Asia crisis.

Singh reported that India has successfully enhanced its domestic defence production capabilities, moving towards self-reliance in the sector. He noted that the country is now increasingly producing its own weapons and drones, diminishing its previous dependency on foreign imports.

Furthermore, he expressed optimism regarding India’s current trajectory, stating that significant developments in defence production illustrate the country’s commitment to becoming “Atmanirbhar,” or self-sufficient. Singh’s statements reflect a push towards bolstering India’s defence capabilities during times of international uncertainty.

Commemoration of Lalji Tandon’s Legacy

On the same day, during the release of the book *Smriti Naad*, Rajnath Singh paid tribute to the late leader Lalji Tandon on his 91st birth anniversary. He expressed that Tandon’s enthusiasm for the publication of the book was noteworthy, highlighting Tandon’s deep-rooted values and the influence he had on those around him.

Singh acknowledged that, while he had not read the book in full, he had perused numerous excerpts which conveyed the essence of Tandon’s character and contributions. The anecdotes within the book showcase how Tandon’s life was marked by the values of esteemed individuals, further exemplifying his impact on society.

Additionally, Singh visited an audio-visual museum established at the event venue, where he inspected digital archives and historical displays alongside Uttar Pradesh Assembly Speaker Satish Mahana. This visit underscored the significance of preserving and celebrating the legacies of influential leaders like Tandon, reinforcing the importance of historical awareness in contemporary society.
