7 Dead, 12 Hospitalised After Wall Collapse at Gurugram Construction Site

The CSR Journal Magazine

In a tragic incident in Gurugram, Rajasthan, seven individuals lost their lives due to a wall collapse at an under-construction building in the Sidhrawali area. The calamity occurred late on Monday evening, around 7:45 PM. Family members of one of the deceased labourers reported the incident, highlighting the urgent need for accountability from construction officials.

Emergency Response

Dr. Somprakash Yadav from the District Hospital noted that rescue operations began shortly after the collapse. Initial reports indicated that between 10 to 15 people were trapped under the debris. Rescue teams managed to save four individuals shortly after arriving at the scene. However, most of the others had already succumbed to their injuries, as they had been buried under the rubble for approximately an hour and a half. Emergency medical teams attempted cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and other lifesaving measures, but these efforts were ultimately unsuccessful. Seven deceased bodies were eventually retrieved, leading to a total of 11 people accounted for in the incident. Currently, four individuals are receiving medical care, with one patient seeking a referral to a hospital in Jaipur.

Family Reactions

A family member of one victim expressed deep sorrow, stating that the collapse of the soil resulted in the fatalities. The local community is demanding answers, with claims that 10 to 12 labourers are currently hospitalized following the incident. The family also indicated their frustration with the lack of communication from the construction company officials at the site. “They do not allow us to meet with anyone from the company. It seems they wish to evade responsibility,” a local resident noted.

Authorities’ Involvement

Following the occurrence, the Haryana police swiftly arrived at the site to manage the situation and ensure safety protocols were adhered to. The bodies of the deceased have been taken to the Government District Hospital for further procedures. The community awaits further details regarding the incident as investigations continue into the circumstances surrounding the building collapse.
