YS Sharmila Changes Daughter’s Wedding Venue After Jagan’s Denial

The CSR Journal Magazine

YS Sharmila, the president of the Andhra Pradesh Congress, has opted to relocate her daughter’s wedding to a different venue following her brother, YS Jagan Mohan Reddy’s, refusal to permit the use of his property in Bengaluru for the event. This decision came out through a post on social media platform X, where Sharmila elaborated on her claims regarding the ownership of the Yelahanka property.

Ownership Claims and Family Dynamics

In her statement, Sharmila asserted that the Yelahanka property was allocated entirely to her and her children as part of the family asset division that occurred after Jagan Mohan Reddy assumed the role of chief minister. She emphasised that the property, which was previously a joint family asset, now belongs solely to her and her children.

Sharmila stated, “What is mine is mine, but the greed to covet it is not in my nature,” highlighting her belief in her rightful ownership. Sharmila expressed her desire to hold her daughter Anjili’s wedding at the Yelahanka residence, which she described as the house where her father, YS Rajasekhara Reddy, lived. She noted that in Telugu culture, it is an auspicious for a daughter to tie knot in her own home.

Despite her disappointment at not being able to fulfil her daughter’s wish, Sharmila acknowledged the need to avoid any controversy surrounding the wedding. She stated, “We are very saddened that we could not fulfil my daughter’s wish to have her wedding at the very house where she grew up.” Sharmila also mentioned that the marriage of her daughter Anjili is an arrangement by elders, and it is their duty to ensure the ceremony proceeds without any disputes.

Jagan’s Concerns Over Security

The decision to deny the use of the Yelahanka property for the wedding was reportedly based on security concerns expressed by Jagan Mohan Reddy. In a letter regarding the matter, he highlighted that hosting a wedding would attract a significant number of guests, along with caterers, decorators, photographers, and other service providers, which could compromise the safety of his family within their home.

Jagan articulated his stance by stating, “At the end of the day, this is my home and I want to ensure that my family and I are safe here.” His concerns reflect a desire to maintain privacy and security for his household amidst the potential influx of attendees at the wedding.

As a result of these developments, Sharmila confirmed that the wedding ceremony of YS Anjili Reddy and Somala Raghuram Reddy will take place at a different venue, surrounded by relatives, friends, and well-wishers. She expressed hope that the Telugu community would extend their blessings and good wishes to the couple, despite the change in plans.

Sharmila’s decision to shift the wedding venue underscores the complexities of family dynamics and the impact of public life on personal events. The change of location for Anjili’s wedding reflects a commitment to family harmony and the importance of ensuring a peaceful celebration. As the couple prepares for their nuptials, the family remains hopeful for a joyous occasion, free from controversy.
