Yogi Adityanath Takes Test Ride on Japan’s SC Maglev Train

The CSR Journal Magazine

During his official visit to Japan, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath participated in a test ride on the SC Maglev train, renowned for its cutting-edge magnetic levitation technology. This high-speed train is capable of achieving remarkable speeds with significantly reduced friction. The demonstration highlighted the SC Maglev’s notable smoothness, silence, and advanced safety mechanisms, emphasizing the potential of modern transportation technology.

The SC Maglev, developed by the Central Japan Railway Company, employs superconducting magnets that lift the train above the tracks, allowing it to travel at speeds exceeding 600 kilometers per hour. The train was previously tested on the Yamanashi Maglev Line, where it reached a world record speed of 603 km/h in 2015. It operates along the Chuo Shinkansen line, providing rapid connectivity between Tokyo and Nagoya.

Earlier in his visit, Adityanath conveyed his appreciation to the Japanese government and the Governor of Yamanashi Prefecture for their contribution to bolstering ties between India and Japan, as well as collaborating on clean energy initiatives. In his address in Yamanashi, he expressed his pleasure at the pivotal role both entities play in strengthening bilateral relations and fulfilling the vision established by former Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe along with Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Yogi Adityanath stated, “I am very happy to see that the Japanese government and the Governor of Yamanashi Prefecture are significantly contributing to enhancing Japan-India relations and supporting the efforts initiated by former Prime Minister Shinzo Abe and Prime Minister Narendra Modi.” He also pointed out advancements in green hydrogen collaboration and academic excellence as key areas for future engagement.

He referenced a project proposed during the Governor’s visit to Uttar Pradesh, mentioning the state’s ambitious plan to develop the Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur, into a Centre of Excellence. “Following the initiative started by the Governor during his trip to Uttar Pradesh, we have initiated a major program aimed at elevating IIT Kanpur as a Centre of Excellence. I am optimistic that the advancements in green hydrogen technology will significantly contribute to Prime Minister Modi’s goal of achieving energy self-sufficiency for Uttar Pradesh,” he added.
