The CSR Journal Magazine

On March 23, the Iranian Embassy in New Delhi conveyed its heartfelt appreciation to the people of India for their acts of kindness and humanity during difficult times. The embassy stated that the contributions made, including monetary donations and jewelry, aimed at helping to rebuild Iran, would be forever remembered. “We will never forget your kindness and humanity. Thank you, India,” read a statement from the embassy.

Special Mention of Kashmir’s Contributions

In their message, the embassy particularly acknowledged the support from the people of Kashmir. They expressed deep gratitude for the humanitarian aid provided by Kashmiri individuals, highlighting that such gestures of solidarity would remain etched in memory. The statement emphasised, “With hearts full of gratitude, we sincerely thank the kind people of Kashmir for standing with the people of Iran through their humanitarian support and heartfelt solidarity; this kindness will never be forgotten.”

The embassy also shared a poignant account of a woman from Kashmir who donated a gold item that served as a memento of her late husband, who passed away nearly three decades ago. This act of generosity was described as a demonstration of love and solidarity towards the people of Iran. “Your tears and pure emotions are the greatest source of comfort for the people of Iran and will never be forgotten,” the embassy wrote, extending gratitude to Kashmir and India.

Community Efforts in Budgam

Residents of Budgam have actively participated in this humanitarian effort by donating gold, silver, and cash to support Iran amid ongoing crises, particularly following the Gulf War. Mohsin Ali, a local from Budgam, mentioned that a donation stall had been established at Masjid Imam Zaman specifically for collecting contributions. “At Masjid Imam Zaman, we have set up a stall with the sincere purpose of collecting donations. Our mothers and sisters are contributing jewelry, copper, and cash so that we can support Iran in its current situation,” he stated.

The embassy reported that even children from Kashmir have joined these charitable efforts by offering their piggy banks as contributions for Iran. This involvement from the younger generation was mentioned in the embassy’s statement, showcasing a collective effort from various segments of society. “God bless you,” they remarked, expressing appreciation for the children’s contributions.

Humanitarian Support Amid Challenges

The response from the Kashmiri community illustrates a spirit of unity and compassion in times of adversity. Despite challenges that prevent direct support, the local population remains dedicated to providing aid and demonstrating solidarity through financial contributions. This collective response highlights a longstanding relationship centered on mutual support and understanding between India and Iran.
