Significant steps are being taken towards providing livelihood to the farmers in Uttar pradesh. Yogi Adityanath-led government in Uttar Pradesh continues to make strides toward doubling farmers’ incomes. The state is witnessing an impressive 150% increase in fruit and vegetable production. This growth is the result of high-quality inputs, and the widespread adoption of modern agricultural practices.
According to reports Uttar Pradesh made an astounding 150% increase in fruit and vegetable yields. The growth reflects the effectiveness of the Yogi Adityanath-led government’s agricultural reforms. The surge in fruit and vegetables is credited to improved input quality. Furthermore, the state government’s farmer-centric policies, and the implementation of modern horticultural techniques have boosted the yield.
Expansion in Cultivation Area and Output
According to reports, in the year 2016-2017, fruits and vegetables were cultivated on 4.75 lakh and 12.56 lakh hectares, respectively. The yields cultivated in this were of 105 and 278 lakh metric tons.
However, by the year 2024-2025, the cultivation area has expanded to 5.92 lakh hectares for fruits. Similarly 14.85 lakh hectares for vegetables. Now with the extended cultivation area the output has surged to 170.95 lakh and 423.54 lakh metric tons, respectively. This rise in cultivation growth reflects an increase of 3.46 lakh hectares in cultivation area and 211 lakh metric tons in production.
Support Through High-Quality Saplings and Technical Guidance
Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Horticulture, Agriculture Marketing, Agriculture Foreign Trade, and Agriculture Export, Dinesh Pratap Singh, said, “The state government is actively supplying farmers with high-quality fruit and vegetable saplings, which has led to significant improvements in productivity and crop quality.”
He further said, “The adoption of modern horticultural techniques has further enhanced sapling production and distribution. Under the leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, we are harnessing technology to raise farmers’ incomes.”
Training and Modern Techniques Drive Productivity
In addition to providing superior planting materials, the government is also equipping farmers with training, upgraded seed varieties, and technical guidance at the grassroots level. These initiatives are aimed not only at increasing yield but also at ensuring sustainable income growth for farmers across the state.
Not just sapling distribution, the government has also emphasised farmer training programs. This will provide the farmers access to improved seed varieties, and technical assistance. These holistic efforts of the Yogi government are enabling farmers to achieve higher productivity, This initiative will also ensure in maintaining sustainability, directly supporting the broader mission to double farmers’ incomes.
