The CSR Journal Magazine

Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy declared the establishment of public schools in 100 constituencies throughout Telangana, set to commence in the upcoming academic year. The initiative aims to replicate the successful model of the Telangana Public School located in Arutla, within the Rangareddy district. Each school will feature well-designed classrooms, sports facilities, qualified teaching staff, and transportation services.

Focus on Quality Education and Modern Facilities

The Chief Minister conducted a review meeting at the Command Control Centre, highlighting the necessity for government schools in Telangana to serve as exemplary models for quality education. He assured that adequate funding would be provided to enhance the education sector. Emphasis was placed on the construction of schools in the Core Urban Region Economy (CURE) area, designed along the lines of corporate institutions, with an emphasis on modern technology in their design. Additionally, the completion of 12 integrated schools within this area is expected within a year.

Upgradation of Existing Schools

Reddy directed that resources and facilities comparable to those found in Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan and Jubilee Hills Public Schools be integrated into these new institutions. The state government is committed to upgrading 164 schools by adding classrooms and essential facilities across 17 schools within the CURE area. A week-long educational program addressing various educational issues will be initiated during a 99-day initiative to ensure transparency and address concerns directly.

Incorporating Artificial Intelligence in Education

In light of the growing significance of Artificial Intelligence (AI), the Chief Minister instructed officials to implement AI education from early schooling levels. Plans were discussed for short-term training sessions for educators to adapt to technological advancements, ensuring students gain relevant skills in AI. The Chief Minister specified that technical education needs to evolve to meet current demands, which includes the introduction of AI-focused courses in polytechnic institutes and Agricultural Training Centres (ATCs) while phasing out outdated curricula.

Investment in Higher Education

Funding allocations to universities were also addressed, with Rs 1000 crore already designated for Osmania University. The Chief Minister requested a detailed report on funding needs from other universities from the Chairman of the Higher Education Board. This move aims to bolster the academic infrastructure for improved educational outcomes.

Breakfast Scheme for Students

The Chief Minister reviewed plans for a breakfast initiative in all government schools starting in the 2026-2027 academic year, discussing proposals with representatives from the Hare Krishna Mission. In addition to breakfast, the provision of milk was emphasized, with procurement to be made from government-owned Vijaya Dairy. Technology will be utilized to monitor the caloric needs of students regularly, ensuring they receive adequate nutrition.

Feedback Mechanism for Fee Regulation

During the meeting, the Telangana Private Schools Fee Regulatory Monitoring Commission presented its findings on the regulation of fees in private educational institutions. The commission outlined existing policies from various states aimed at managing tuition fees. The Chief Minister tasked District Collectors and District Education Officers with gathering insights at the district level. A higher-level committee, including a retired judge or chief secretary, is to finalize fee structures, with an invitation for public input on proposed drafts.

Comprehensive Education Policy Review

The Telangana Education Commission, chaired by Akunuri Murali, briefed the Chief Minister on their recent study of best practices in education from nations like the United States, Vietnam, and Malaysia. Following this presentation, the Chief Minister assigned responsibility for legislative proposals regarding the education policy to Government Advisor Kesava Rao, affirming the importance of comprehensive reforms in education at state levels.
