The Delhi government has decided to establish 53 new fast-track special courts (FTSC), which will expedite cases related to crimes against women and children across the capital city.
What is a Fast Track Special Court
These courts are special judicial bodies established to dispose of pending cases,
especially involving crimes like sexual offences against women and children. The court aims to provide quick justice. They already exist 16 FTSC, while the new one will start functioning soon, said the chief minister, Rekha Gupta, on Tuesday.
The court functions as a centrally sponsored scheme with the Department of Justice under the Ministry of Law and Justice in India. To date, more than 17,000 cases related to crimes against women and children are pending in various courts within Delhi.
