Rajasthan Shocker: Scolded By Father For Playing Mobile Games, Class 8 Boy Hangs Self

The CSR Journal Magazine

In a heartbreaking incident from Rajasthan’s Dholpur district, a 13-year-old boy allegedly took his own life after being scolded by his father for playing a mobile game. The tragic event occurred on Wednesday evening in Kurendra village, police confirmed on Thursday.

According to officials, the boy, identified as Vishnu, was reportedly upset after his father scolded him for spending too much time gaming on his mobile phone. Following the argument, Vishnu went to his room in anger. When his family later called him for dinner and received no response, they broke into the room, only to find the Class 8 student hanging.

Family’s Desperate Attempt to Save Him

The family immediately rushed Vishnu to a nearby hospital, where doctors declared him dead on arrival. The police said no suicide note was found, but preliminary investigations indicate that the child was deeply disturbed after being rebuked for his gaming habits.

“The boy appeared unhappy with his father’s scolding over mobile gaming. The incident seems to be a case of emotional impulsivity,” an investigating officer said.

A Growing Pattern of Digital Addiction

This incident sheds light on the alarming rise of gaming-related stress and emotional outbursts among young teenagers. In a similar case in Delhi last month, a 15-year-old boy allegedly ended his life after being scolded by his sister for playing mobile games instead of studying.

Mental health experts have repeatedly warned that excessive gaming can heighten stress and emotional sensitivity in children. They stress the need for parents to balance discipline with communication and mental health awareness.

Police have registered a case under Section 174 of the CrPC and initiated further inquiry into the matter. Vishnu’s body was handed over to his family after a post-mortem examination.

Similar Tragedies in Recent Days

In another unrelated incident, a 15-year-old boy died after the tractor he was driving fell into the Ghod River in Pune’s Shirur taluka. The boy reportedly lost control while crossing a narrow bridge. PMRDA rescue teams used boats and an earthmover to retrieve the body.

Meanwhile, in Uttar Pradesh’s Kushinagar district, a class 9 student named Ayush (15) died after being crushed by a falling tree during a storm. The teenager, along with family members, was cutting a previously fallen tree when another tree collapsed on him. Ayush died on the spot, while three others were injured and sent to hospital.
