7-Year-Old Samyuktha Narayanan Breaks Record as Youngest Taekwondo Instructor

Samyuktha Narayanan, a seven-year-old from Madurai, Tamil Nadu, has made history. At a very young age she earned the title of the “youngest Taekwondo instructor ever.” Samyuktha’s remarkable achievement has not only garnered attention from India but has also captivated the world. At just seven years and 270 days old, Samyuktha earned the Guinness World Records (GWR) title, inspiring young dreamers globally.

Legacy in Martial Arts

Her parents, Shruthy and Narayanan, run the Madurai Taekwondo Academy. The academy has a legacy of martial arts excellence and training. Samyuktha’s mother Shruthy holds the record for the most full-contact elbow strikes in one minute with 211 strikes.

Her Father Narayanan boasts multiple records, including breaking the most flaming concrete blocks in 30 seconds (29) and smashing seven marble slabs with a single kick. Her parents in 2020, set the record for the most martial arts kicks by a pair in one minute (154, mixed).

Samyuktha from her childhood was inspired by her parents’ achievements. She aimed to follow in their footsteps. “My father and mother are my biggest inspirations. I used to admire [their] Guinness World Records certificates hanging on the walls in our home. It was my goal to achieve a GWR title and hang my certificate on the same wall,” she shared with GWR.

As per the GWR blog, she trains for two hours daily. “I wake up early in the morning and start my training with the other students. I do my homework as soon as I come home [from school]. Then I take some rest and go to the dojo for coaching along with my dad in the evening,” she said.
“I feel proud of myself standing as an instructor before kids of my age,” she continued, adding, “Sometimes I also learn from them.”

A Proud Moment for Her Family and Fans

The Black belt Samyuktha earned was issued by the World Taekwondo Headquarters in Korea. This marked another significant milestone in her young career. GWR shared her achievement in a post on Instagram, writing, “Seven-year-old girl makes history as the youngest Taekwondo instructor ever aged just seven years and 270 days old! Samyuktha Narayanan is an inspiration to fellow kids in Madurai, India, encouraging them to engage in sports!”
