Samsung has introduced its latest tablet models, the Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra and Galaxy Tab S12+. This expansion of the flagship tablet range incorporates the new MediaTek Dimensity 9500 chipset, enhancing performance across both devices. Alongside impressive hardware specifications, the tablets also feature AMOLED displays and offer S Pen support. The new series is set to become available in selected markets starting on October 7, although pricing details for India have yet to be confirmed.

Specifications of Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra and S12+

The Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra is designed as the more advanced variant, boasting a 14.6-inch AMOLED display with a resolution of 2,960 x 1,848 pixels and a refresh rate of 120Hz. A robust 11,600mAh battery with 45W wired charging capability is also integrated into this model. In contrast, the Galaxy Tab S12+ offers a slightly smaller 12.6-inch display with a resolution of 2,800 x 1,752 pixels and features a 10,600mAh battery, sharing the same charging support as the Ultra.

Both tablets operate on the MediaTek Dimensity 9500 chipset and run Android 17 coupled with Samsung’s One UI 9 software. This software provides a multi-window setup enabling screen division into three separate sections and introduces various new Galaxy AI features. Notably, Samsung has committed to seven years of operating system and security updates for these new devices, reflecting an ongoing dedication to software longevity.

From a camera perspective, the Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra includes dual rear sensors, featuring a 13-megapixel primary camera alongside an 8-megapixel ultrawide camera. The S12+, however, only has a single 13-megapixel rear camera. Both models are equipped with a 12-megapixel ultrawide front camera, suitable for selfies and video conferencing purposes.

Connectivity and Pricing Details

The connectivity features of the two models diverge, with the Ultra supporting Wi-Fi 7 while the S12+ is compatible with Wi-Fi 6E. Both tablets include Bluetooth 6.0 support and allow for microSD card expansion up to 2TB, catering to users who require additional storage options, alongside the included S Pen support.

The pricing for the Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra begins at $1,399, approximately equivalent to Rs 1,34,090. This price applies to the model featuring 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. Variants with 12GB RAM and 512GB storage, as well as a 16GB RAM and 1TB storage option, are also expected to be available. In comparison, the Galaxy Tab S12+ starts at $1,199, roughly Rs 1,14,920, for the 12GB RAM and 256GB storage configuration, with an additional 12GB RAM and 512GB storage model also offered.

The new Tab S12 Ultra retains much of the design philosophy and hardware features observed in its predecessor, but it transitions to the updated Dimensity 9500 processor. This new chipset reportedly provides a 61 per cent increase in NPU processing speed, along with 19 per cent improved CPU performance and a 17 per cent boost in GPU capability compared to the Dimensity 9400+ chipset used in the Tab S11 Ultra. In terms of physical dimensions, the Tab S12 Ultra weighs 692 grams and measures just 5.1mm in thickness. It will be sold in grey and silver colours, and it comes packaged with an S Pen.

As of now, Indian consumers are awaiting the official announcement regarding pricing for these new models. To offer some context, the previous Galaxy Tab 11 series currently starts at Rs 1,27,999 in India.
