Rajasthan Schools Enhance Mental Health Support Amid Exam Stress

In response to increasing concerns regarding exam-induced stress and anxiety, the Rajasthan Education Department has launched a range of initiatives focused on improving mental health support for students in government schools. Officials stated that the aim is to foster a school environment that is both emotionally supportive and conducive to academic growth, enabling students to develop confidence and emotional resilience.

Interactive Learning and Yoga Sessions Introduced

School Education Secretary Krishna Kunal highlighted the department’s commitment to students’ holistic development by incorporating activities that aid in managing stress and expressing emotions constructively. The initiatives include yoga sessions, gratitude-focused classroom exercises, and interactive learning methods designed to maintain students’ calmness and emotional stability, particularly during examination periods.

Play-Based Learning for Early Education

A significant aspect of this initiative is the rollout of Jaadui Pitara, a play-based learning kit aimed at enhancing cognitive, linguistic, and social skills of younger students. Through stories, games, and creative activities, children are encouraged to engage in free thinking, improve their communication, and interact positively with their peers. Officials indicated that this approach fosters a stress-free learning environment while promoting emotional well-being from an early age.

Tailored Support for Senior Students

The department also addresses the needs of older students by promoting emotional expression through various activities such as camps and sports. Additionally, schools are utilizing Information and Communication Technology (ICT) resources, including labs and smart televisions, to present materials related to mental health awareness and stress management. Initial feedback from these initiatives suggests that they have positively influenced students’ attitudes toward their exams, encouraging them to approach assessments with greater confidence and a positive outlook.

Expansion of Initiatives for Student Support

The education authorities expressed their intention to extend these initiatives to further enhance students’ ability to manage academic pressures while safeguarding their emotional health. By prioritizing mental well-being alongside academic achievement, the Rajasthan Education Department aims to create a more supportive and balanced educational experience for all students.
