23-Year-Old Pune Techie Dies by Suicide, Jumps from Office Building After Meeting

The CSR Journal Magazine

A 23-year-old IT engineer working in Pune’s Hinjewadi IT Park died by suicide on Monday morning, shortly after walking out of an office meeting. The deceased, identified as Piyush Ashok Kawade from Nashik, was employed with Atlas Copco (India) Pvt. Ltd. in Phase One of the Hinjewadi IT hub. He had been working with the company for over a year.

According to police reports, the incident took place around 10:30 am. Piyush was attending a routine office meeting when he complained of chest discomfort and left the room. Moments later, he was found dead after jumping from the seventh floor of the office building. The sudden act left his colleagues and company staff in shock.

Suicide Note Found

A handwritten suicide note was discovered at the scene. In it, Piyush wrote, “I have failed everywhere in life. Forgive me.” Addressing his father in the same note, he added, “I would have been a better son. You deserve a better son. I have failed in everything. Please do not waste your time on this. Take care.” The emotional tone of the message reflects deep personal distress, though it does not reference any job-related problems.

Senior Police Inspector Balaji Pandre confirmed the details of the case and said an in-depth investigation is underway. “We are speaking to colleagues and reviewing CCTV footage. While the note did not mention workplace issues, we are exploring all possible angles to understand what may have triggered this act,” Pandre stated.

ACP: No Signs of Work Stress Yet, Suicide Note Under Investigation

Assistant Commissioner of Police Sunil Kurade added that the note would be thoroughly examined for any possible clues. “At first glance, I haven’t seen anything like [work-related stress] yet. The investigation is ongoing, but still what he has written in the suicide note will be thoroughly investigated. Relatives, etc. are coming,” he told the media.

The police have registered a case of accidental death and sent the body for post-mortem. They are also speaking with Piyush’s family and coworkers to gather more information about his mental state and any personal challenges he may have faced.

Another Suicide Cases Comes to Light

This tragedy comes just a day after two separate suicide cases made headlines — one involving the wife of a police officer in Lucknow, who alleged harassment by her in-laws, and another in Greater Noida, where a factory manager reportedly ended his life following a domestic dispute. Authorities in all three cases have launched comprehensive investigations.

The incident has once again raised concerns over silent mental health struggles among India’s youth, especially in high-pressure corporate environments. Support systems for young professionals remain a crucial area of focus as families and workplaces reel from the loss.
