Authorities in Uttarakhand are exploring a possible gang war connection following a shooting incident at Silver City Mall in Dehradun that resulted in the death of Vikram Sharma. Police officials reported that Sharma was attacked by unidentified gunmen as he was leaving a gym near the mall on Rajpur Road. Senior Superintendent of Police Ajay Singh stated that Sharma had links to the state of Jharkhand and operated a stone crusher business in Bajpur. Upon contacting the Jharkhand Police, it was learned that a gang conflict is currently underway in that region. The police also revealed that Sharma was facing multiple criminal charges.

Victim Shot After Gym Session, Declared Dead at Hospital

Initial investigations indicated that Sharma was gunned down shortly after his gym session at approximately 10:15 am. After being shot, he was rushed to a local hospital, where he was declared dead. SSP Singh noted that police received significant details about the incident from the Silver City Mall security personnel, who witnessed the shooting. He emphasized the necessity for a thorough investigation, given the potential links to gang activity in Jharkhand.

STF, Uttarakhand Police Investigate Jharkhand Link

In light of these developments, the Uttarakhand Police, in collaboration with the Special Task Force, is working to determine whether the ongoing gang rivalry in Jharkhand is connected to this shooting incident in Dehradun. SSP Singh conveyed that their initial assessment suggests a strong likelihood of this connection. “The STF and local police are delving into the circumstances that might have led to this incident occurring here,” Singh elaborated.

Additionally, Inspector General of Police for the Garhwal Range, Rajiv Swaroop, confirmed the details of the event and highlighted the urgency of the ongoing investigation. Swaroop acknowledged the timely intervention of police teams already on the ground, stating that efforts are being made to track down the assailants. He reassured the public that law enforcement is committed to capturing the culprits and ensuring justice for the victim.
