Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently engaged in a virtual conversation with the Seva Sankalp Yatris, who are on a journey from Vadnagar to Varanasi. During this interaction, he expressed admiration for their dedication to service, calling their efforts “truly inspiring.” Modi underscored the personal significance of both cities, referring to Vadnagar as his birthplace and Varanasi as his “workplace,” thus highlighting their long-standing historical and cultural importance.

The Prime Minister noted that both Vadnagar and Varanasi have thrived for over 1,000 years, stating, “For me, Vadnagar is my birthplace, and Kashi is my second workplace.” He mentioned the spiritual significance of the locations, recognising the blessings he perceives from Baba Vishwanath in Kashi and Hatkeshwar Mahadev in Vadnagar.

During the interaction, Modi remarked on the scale of the service campaign being conducted by the yatris, expressing that their shared experiences made him feel as though he was participating in the journey alongside them. He conveyed his appreciation for the numerous videos and photographs shared by the participants, which illustrated the essence of the initiative.

Challenges in Organising Service Campaigns Acknowledged

Modi reflected on his own past experiences of organising events that often come with challenges, including unpredictable weather, changing locations, and varying requirements. He stated, “While I was working in the organisation, I had a long experience of arranging and organising such programmes.” He remarked on the enthusiasm exhibited by the participants despite the difficulties they faced.

The Prime Minister acknowledged that a spirit of selfless service is foundational to many welfare initiatives, such as the Ayushman Yojana. He suggested that the journey between Vadnagar and Varanasi reflects this commitment to service that inspires various forms of community support and development.

Emphasising the connection between service and nation-building, Modi noted that political and electoral processes are important but should ultimately contribute to the larger goal of constructing a prosperous nation. He stated, “Politics has its own place, elections have their own place and governance has its own place. But we are the people who work to build the nation.” This statement underscores his belief in prioritising national development above partisan politics.

Youth Identified as Key Players in Building a Developed India

In his address, PM Modi also highlighted the critical role of youth in realising the vision for a developed India, termed Viksit Bharat, by 2047. He stated, “Today, the youth are the backbone of Viksit Bharat and they are also its future beneficiaries.” The Prime Minister asserted that empowering the younger generation is instrumental for the nation’s advancement.

By laying emphasis on the potential of youth, Modi called for strengthening their involvement in various developmental initiatives as part of a collective effort towards nation-building. He expressed optimism that with the active participation of young people, the aspirations for a developed and prosperous India could be achieved by the designated year.
