PM Modi Disburses 22nd Installment of PM-KISAN Scheme Benefiting Over 9.3 Crore Farmers

The CSR Journal Magazine

On March 13, Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced the release of the 22nd installment of the PM-KISAN scheme, directly benefiting more than 9.3 crore farmers nationwide. During an event in Guwahati, Assam, he confirmed that eligible farmers would receive Rs 2,000 deposited directly into their bank accounts. This initiative aims to enhance financial support to farmers across the country.

Accusations Against Congress Party

Addressing the gathering, Prime Minister Modi criticized the Congress party for its alleged lack of dedication to the nation. He asserted that the party is primarily focused on disseminating misinformation rather than contributing positively to national progress. Emphasizing the significance of financial aid through the PM-KISAN scheme, he stated, “Just a little while ago, a message has reached the accounts of millions of farmers that the PM Samman Nidhi has been deposited.” He highlighted that before 2014, many farmers lacked access to mobile phones or bank accounts.

Financial Achievements of the Scheme

PM Modi revealed that over Rs 4 lakh 20 thousand crore have been deposited in the accounts of farmers since the scheme’s inception. He touted the BJP-led NDA government’s commitment to supporting farmers and achieving national self-reliance. The Prime Minister mentioned that while his administration aims to bolster the agricultural sector, the Congress party has demonstrated a continuous failure to prioritize national commitment, even during global crises.

Assam’s Role in Northeast Development

The Prime Minister praised Assam for emerging as a model of development within the Northeast region, referring to the state’s growth as contributing to the vision known as “Ashtalakshmi.” He acknowledged that the progress witnessed in Assam has reinvigorated development momentum across the entire Northeast. PM Modi also addressed India’s efforts to reduce dependency on foreign countries, particularly in the railway sector, citing the complete electrification of the rail network over the past decade.

Enhancing Agricultural Self-Reliance

During his address, PM Modi elaborated on key initiatives aimed at improving self-reliance in agriculture, noting that farmers often faced challenges during global conflicts or disruptions in supply chains. He articulated that the previous reliance on foreign countries has driven up costs for Indian farmers. As a response, the government has implemented policies designed to integrate modern technology into agricultural practices. He mentioned the ‘Per Drop, More Crop’ initiative, which incorporates innovative irrigation methods to enhance both efficiency and cost-effectiveness in farming.

Modern Irrigation Technologies

The government has introduced micro-irrigation technologies, such as drip and sprinkler systems, ensuring that farmers benefit from improved irrigation efficiency. These advancements not only facilitate a reduction in operational costs but also contribute to sustainable agricultural practices. According to PM Modi, these initiatives reflect a commitment to insulating the agricultural sector from external shocks and ensuring improved livelihoods for farmers across the nation.
