As part of its corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiative, PC Financial Services Private Limited – a Non-Banking Finance Company (NBFC) – carried out mask distribution drive in parts of Mumbai and Haryana amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
Over 10,000 cloth masks have already been distributed to the needy in the ongoing CSR activity by the company in association with Abheet Foundation, a Gurugram-based NGO which is involved in social work including raising awareness among people to improve their quality of life. Representatives of PC Financial Services have visited slums and villages in Lucknow, Gurugram, Manesar and Mumbai, and distributed the 3-layer cotton masks while requesting villagers to put them on when outdoors.
In May 2020, CashBean – a product of PC Financial Services Private Limited engaged in the business of providing instant personal loans – had provided food and hand sanitizers to at least 50,000 people in Gurugram and surrounding areas.
“People living and working in crowded environments are much more exposed and prone to contracting coronavirus in absence of basic health and safety protocols. It spreads at a faster rate in such places; hence we identified villages across states where people were made aware of the importance of wearing masks and maintaining safe distance at public places. Company representatives have distributed masks to the residents of Parel village in Mumbai and Ghata village in Manesar among others and also taught them the right way to wear a fabric mask,” said Raghuvir Gakhar, Chief Financial Officer (CFO), PC Financial Services Private Limited.
The company, along with its distributing partner – Robin Hood Army, plans to continue the activity by distributing masks in various other places including Kanpur, Varanasi, Meerut, Delhi and Indore in the next couple of days.
“We are pleased to be associated with Abheet Foundation for a cause like this which was started in early September. Since then, we have been actively involved in distributing masks and educating villagers / slum dwellers. As a responsible company, PC Financial Services has always believed in lending support to the underprivileged in times of crisis. Our target is to distribute 24,000 masks by the end of October. We are also thankful to Robin Hood Army who is helping us in this initiative by making the distribution process smooth and timely,” added Gakhar.
