Palestinians Raise ‘Hamas Out’ Slogans During Protest March in North Gaza

Large numbers of Palestinians marched inside northern Gaza to demand an end to the war. The protesting crowd was chanting ‘Hamas out’ in a rare public show of opposition to the militant group that sparked the conflict by raiding Israel on October 7, 2023.
“Out, out, out, Hamas get out”, chanted the protesters as seen in videos posted on social media. These posts from a place called the Beit Lahiya region began circulating widely on Tuesday evening. Even though the international media were able to confirm the location of these videos, it was unable to verify the independent date of the event. However, several videos and photographs are surfacing on social media that majorly confirm that protests were held in the area on March 25.

Gaza Strip

The northern region of Gaza has been one of the most affected areas by war, where most buildings in the thickly populated area have been reduced to rubble. Much of the population living in this area has been moved out multiple times to escape the conflict. Hundreds of thousands of residents who were forced to leave towards the south of Gaza earlier in the war have now returned to their shattered houses. In Northern Gaza, the ceasefire began in January this year.
Hamas took control of Gaza after sweeping out the Fatah group of Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas in elections in 2007.
