Two Pakistani soldiers, at least 5 terrorists and 8 civilians were killed on Saturday in a suicide attack in Pakistan’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province. According to the Pakistani military, the group behind the targeted attack is “Fitna al-Khawarij.” The attack occurred while security forces’ convoy was targeted during an intelligence operation. Pakistan’s leading newspaper, The Dawn, reported that the attack happened while an operation against Tehreek-e-Taliban terrorists was underway in Bannu district. In a statement, the Pakistani military said they intercepted a suicide bomber, thus averting a major disaster. During the operation TTP terrorists were tracked down, and at least two were killed.
Similar explosion a few days back
A few days ago, an explosion happened at the same spot, completely attacking and destroying a madrasa building. It was a very powerful explosion that shattered the surrounding buildings’ windows and caused panic among the people. According to an eyewitness, smoke rose high into the sky after the blast, and gunfire was heard.
Delhi on alert
Meanwhile, India’s Capital, New Delhi has been put on alert following intelligence about a possible terror threat near the Red Fort, specifically targeting a temple in the Chandni Chowk area. The Pakistan-based terror outfit Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) is reportedly behind this, the terror group is targeting religious places. Intelligence indicates that the terror outfit is planning to plant an improvised explosive device (IED) at a temple in the Chandni Chowk area. Sources suggest the terror group is planning this attack as revenge for the February 6 blast at a mosque in Islamabad. “Blast alert in front of the Red Fort in Delhi. Terrorists may target a temple in Chandni Chowk. Lashkar-e-Taiba is plotting an IED attack,” sources said.
