In a bid to carry out essential infrastructure work, the Central Railway’s Mumbai Division has announced a special traffic and power block across four locations on the Kalyan–Badlapur section for two consecutive nights: the night of 07/08 November (Friday–Saturday) and the night of 08/09 November (Saturday–Sunday).
The block will be implemented on both the Up and Down South-East (SE) lines between Midnight to early morning for a duration of 1 hour 50 minutes to 3 hours 20 minutes (approximately 1 h 30 m each night). During this window, trains will be halted to enable the launching and de-launching of heavy girders for a foot-over-bridge (FOB) project.
Major disruptions for long-distance trains
Long-haul mail/express trains on the Up route will be affected. Specifically:
-
11020 Bhubaneswar–CSMT Konark Express
-
18519 Visakhapatnam–LTT Express
These will be diverted via Karjat–Panvel–Diva. Further, trains that normally stop at Kalyan will instead halt at Panvel and/or Thane to accommodate impacted passengers.
Additionally, the 12702 Hyderabad–CSMT Hussainsagar Express will be regulated at Vangani station from 03:13 hrs to 03:20 hrs during the block. Other mail/express services or holiday specials arriving late may also face diversions as required.
Impact on suburban services
Local trains between Kalyan and Karjat will not operate during the block period. For example:
-
The A1 local (CSMT → Ambernath) leaving CSMT at 00:02 hrs will be cancelled.
-
The A66 local (Ambernath → CSMT) leaving Ambernath at 22:15 hrs will be cancelled.
-
The S1 local (CSMT → Karjat) leaving CSMT at 00:12 hrs will be short-terminated at Thane.
-
The S2 local (Karjat → CSMT) leaving Karjat at 02:30 hrs will originate from Thane at 04:00 hrs.
