Mumbai Metro Rail Corporation (MMRC) has announced a significant extension of operating hours for the Aqua Line, also known as Mumbai Metro Line 3, to facilitate easier travel for devotees during Ganeshotsav celebrations. The extended services will commence on September 14, 2026, and conclude on September 25, 2026. During this period, the last trains will depart from both termini, Cuffe Parade and Aarey JVLR, at midnight instead of the usual 10:30 pm.

Aqua Line Facilitates Access to Key Ganesh Mandals

The Aqua Line offers crucial connectivity to several prominent Ganesh mandals, such as those situated near Siddhivinayak, Dadar, Worli, Mahalaxmi, and Girgaon. This extended service aims to alleviate traffic congestion, enabling devotees to navigate the city more efficiently while visiting these popular locations during the festival. The addition of extended hours provides supporters with increased flexibility to participate in the festivities.

With the anticipated surge in passenger numbers, MMRC encourages the public to utilise the extended services. The Metro is expected to lessen the burden on road traffic, allowing for a smoother travel experience for Mumbaikars attending the celebrations.

In addition to the extended operating hours, the Aqua Line will allow passengers to carry Ganesh idols up to 18 inches (45 cm) in height. Devotees are expected to adhere to the safety guidelines set forth by MMRC when transporting the idols, which is a common practice during Ganeshotsav.
