Prime Minister Narendra Modi has vowed that those responsible for the horrific terrorist strike in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pahalgam will face justice of the harshest kind, assuring the nation that India’s spirit will not be shaken. In his radio address, Mann Ki Baat, he expressed sorrow over the loss of 26 lives and called the attack a brutal attempt to derail the region’s development and peace.
Reiterating India’s firm stance against terrorism, PM Modi emphasised that the masterminds and foot soldiers behind the assault would be hunted down. “Their punishment will be beyond what they could have imagined,” he stated emphatically. He assured the families of the victims that justice would be delivered and that the country stands with them in their moment of loss.
The investigation into the April 22 massacre has now been taken over by the National Investigation Agency (NIA), as directed by the Union Home Ministry. Teams have been deployed to examine the site thoroughly, interrogate witnesses, and secure evidence. Simultaneously, tensions have flared along the Line of Control, with Pakistani forces reportedly initiating unprovoked firing for the third night in a row met with a firm response from Indian troops.
Modi: Attack Struck at India’s Soul, United in Grief
At a recent rally in Bihar’s Madhubani, the Prime Minister didn’t mince words. “This was not just an attack on tourists; it was an assault on India’s soul,” he said. Highlighting the diversity of those who lost their lives from Bengal, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Odisha, Gujarat, and Bihar he noted that the grief was shared by every Indian, regardless of language or location.
PM Modi linked the attack to growing frustration among terrorist factions and their foreign backers. He pointed out that Jammu and Kashmir had been seeing positive transformation rising tourism, vibrant campuses, better job prospects, and stronger democratic participation. “The enemies of progress could not tolerate this return to normalcy,” he said.
Top government officials are reportedly considering calibrated military responses to the attack. “All options are being reviewed,” said a senior source. India, according to government insiders, is not only diplomatically isolating Pakistan by halting visa services and pausing the Indus Water Treaty talks but is also prepared for precise retaliatory action, potentially targeting terrorist infrastructure near the border.
Global Leaders Stand with India Says Modi
International leaders have come forward with strong messages of support. PM Modi acknowledged the global response during his address, noting that multiple world leaders had sent letters and called to extend condolences and solidarity. “The world is united with India in this fight,” he said.
Describing the act as cowardly and desperate, the Prime Minister said it was clear that the perpetrators sought to ignite unrest just as Kashmir was regaining its stability. He urged citizens not to let such actions divide them, but instead use this as a moment to show the strength of national unity. “The voice of 140 crore Indians is our most powerful weapon in this war against terror,” Modi said.
He concluded his address by calling for resilience, courage, and collective willpower. “Our country will never bow to the forces of hatred and violence. We will respond not just with strength, but with unity, conviction, and justice.”
