MG Motor India to Launch Windsor EV Indulge Edition in Shadow Gold

The CSR Journal Magazine

MG Motor India is set to unveil the Windsor EV Indulge Edition to commemorate the two-year anniversary of the Windsor in the country, alongside celebrating a customer base of over 80,000 families. Recent leaks suggest that this special edition will incorporate several notable features, including a new exterior colour and revised interior elements designed to enhance passenger comfort.

Exterior Enhancements

The Windsor EV Indulge Edition will showcase a unique exterior colour called Shadow Gold, complemented by 18-inch black alloy wheels to give the vehicle a more distinct look. Additional modifications will include exclusive ‘Indulge’ badges positioned on the rear quarter glass panes. Despite these updates, the special edition will largely retain the existing exterior design characteristics of the standard Windsor EV, such as LED lighting features, body cladding, an all-black roof, and blacked-out outside rearview mirrors. The rear design is expected to remain mostly the same, aside from the inclusion of the special-edition badging.

The addition of the Shadow Gold hue is anticipated to attract customers seeking a fresh aesthetic option, while the black alloy wheels aim to further enhance the vehicle’s sporty appeal. Collectively, these changes point towards MG’s intention to elevate the visual identity of the Windsor EV while ensuring consistency with the originally established design attributes.

Interior Features and Comfort Upgrades

Inside the vehicle, the Indulge Edition aims to introduce an Urban Tan and Black upholstery theme for its leatherette seats, departing from the traditional black-and-ivory cabin treatment found in earlier models. Notable features will include ‘Indulge’ embossing on the front-seat headrests. Comfort will be significantly improved through additional neck cushions for front passengers and pillows allocated for rear occupants. This means that the Indulge Edition will focus on enhancing the overall passenger experience.

Among the most significant interior additions is a roof-mounted flip-down screen, referred to as the ‘Prive Screen’, designed specifically for rear-seat passengers. This feature highlights MG’s commitment to prioritising rear-seat comfort and convenience. In addition to this, the standard Windsor EV is already equipped with a 15.6-inch touch display and Aero Lounge seating, which allows front seats to recline by up to 135 degrees.

While further information regarding the complete equipment list for the Indulge Edition is anticipated to be revealed during its official launch, these enhancements already signal a thoughtful approach to passenger comfort and convenience.

Battery Specifications and Pricing Information

The limited-run Indulge Edition is expected to maintain the existing powertrain options found in the standard Windsor EV. Currently, the electric crossover offers two battery pack configurations: a 38kWh unit and a 52.9kWh variant. The smaller battery has a claimed range of 332km, while the Windsor EV Pro, featuring the larger battery, is claimed to cover 449km on a single charge. Both variants utilise a front-mounted electric motor that produces 136bhp and 200Nm of torque.

There is no indication that any mechanical changes will be present in the Indulge Edition, suggesting that the focus will primarily be on cosmetic improvements and cabin upgrades. The current price range of the MG Windsor EV varies between Rs 14.70 lakh and Rs 19 lakh (ex-showroom), depending on the variant and battery configuration. While the Indulge Edition is likely to incur a modest premium over its standard counterparts, details regarding its final pricing and availability remain unconfirmed.

The launch of the Indulge Edition marks a significant milestone for the Windsor EV, building on its success in the Indian market since MG’s entry two years ago. With its unique features and aesthetic upgrades, the new edition is set to attract attention while retaining the core attributes of the existing model.
