Leaked Information Suggests Innovative Design for iPhone 20 Ahead of Launch

The CSR Journal Magazine

Despite the forthcoming launch of the iPhone 18 expected this September, discussions regarding the iPhone 20 have already emerged. The 20th anniversary model is projected to debut in 2027, according to early reports. It is anticipated that Apple will incorporate a significantly revamped design for this special model, characterized by a notably curved aesthetic and extremely slender bezels.

Design Features and Enhancements

A tipster known as Schrdinger, who uses the handle @phonefuturist on X, suggests that the iPhone 20 may showcase ultra-slim bezels measuring just 1.1mm along all edges of the display. The device may adopt a rounded shape with a quad-curved layout, enabling the display and frame to merge in a visually seamless manner. The tipster has also shared a mock-up image that depicts how the convex display glass gently curves at the edges to align with the slim frame.

Camera Technology and Features

Moreover, the tipster notes that Apple is considering using Samsung’s under-panel camera (UPC) technology in an effort to facilitate a full-screen display. However, there may be concerns regarding the quality of images produced using this technology. Consequently, the upcoming anniversary iPhone might either feature a smaller Dynamic Island compared to the forthcoming iPhone 18 Pro or incorporate a punch-hole cutout for the front-facing camera. Additionally, mentions of Samsung’s “Polar ID” face recognition system have been included in the discussions.

Current Developments on iPhone 18 Pro

Meanwhile, a recent leak on Weibo has brought attention to the anticipated iPhone 18 Pro, which may present a reduced Dynamic Island compared to previous models. Reports indicate that this cutout could shrink to approximately 13.49mm in width, a significant reduction from the estimated 20.76mm seen in the iPhone 17 Pro, representing nearly a 35% decrease. This modification is believed to be due to Apple relocating a portion of its Face ID mechanism, specifically the flood illuminator, beneath the display. By repositioning this component, the company could create additional space within the pill-shaped cutout, allowing it to maintain functionality while achieving a more compact form.

Design Consistency for iPhone 18 Pro

The bezels on the iPhone 18 Pro are expected to remain consistent with previous models, continuing the flat-edged design that has characterized Apple’s recent smartphones. Additionally, the rear panel is projected to undergo minimal design changes, indicating that the overall appearance of the device may stay relatively similar to its predecessors.
