Lalu Prasad Yadav posts meme targeting Bihar CM Nitish Kumar and PM Modi about ‘Achhe din’ And ‘Special state status’

Former Bihar Chief Minister and RJD Chief Lalu Prasad Yadav has taken a satirical jibe through a social media meme at CM Nitish Kumar and Prime Minister Narendra Modi ahead of Bihar elections which is scheduled to happen later this year. The social media meme comes at a time when preparation is in full swing and all parties are intensifying campaigning for the Bihar Assembly elections 2025.

Yadav took to social media to share a meme featuring CM Nitish Kumar and PM Modi where the duo is dressed as delivery boys and riding scooters carrying parcels on their back.

The caption reads “Jhoothe waadon ki free delivery” (Free delivery of false promises) in Hindi. The text on the meme reads in Hindi, “Two delivery boys have been spotted on the lanes of Bihar. One carries ‘achhe din’ in his bag while the other one is carrying ‘Status of a special state’. But the delivery is pending since the last 10 years even though both of them are saying that the order is confirmed!”

This post is a jibe at unfulfilled promises repeatedly made during elections in the state since 2014, including ‘Achhe Din’, Bihar’s demand for Special Status, employment generation, access to education, agricultural reforms, and Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s friendship with the NDA.

RJD supporters have praised the post as “accurate” and allege that a lot of announcements made by the double-engine government have not been fulfilled as yet.

Political analysts are of the opinion that social media memes ahead of the Bihar election is a strategy adopted by the veteran politician to connect with Bihar’s youth and use the power of social media as a publicity tool.

Bihar becomes first state to implement mobile phone-based e-voting

Meanwhile, Bihar on Saturday became the first state to implement mobile phone-based e-voting during local body elections. State Election Commissioner Deepak Prasad said while 70.20 per cent of the eligible voters used the e-voting system, 54.63 per cent exercised their franchise by visiting polling booths.

He said the introduction of e-voting aims to increase voter turnout and make the process more inclusive. The system was specifically designed for voters who face challenges in reaching polling booths, such as the elderly, disabled, pregnant women, and migrants. However, only pre-registered users will be allowed to vote via the e-voting platform.

“Bihar has made history today. Bibha Kumari, a resident of Pakridayal in East Champaran district, became the first person in the country to cast a vote via mobile phone during a local body election. A symbol of convenience, security, and empowered participation,” the Bihar Election Commission posted on X.
