Iran Rejects Reports of Communication with the US, Prepares for Extended Conflict

The CSR Journal Magazine

Iran has dismissed claims that it has sent any messages to the United States, asserting that its military is gearing up for a lengthy war rather than pursuing negotiations. An anonymous official revealed to the semi-official news agency Tasnim that no form of communication between Tehran and Washington has occurred, nor is there any intention to respond to potential US outreach. The official emphasized, “No message has been sent from Iran to the US, nor will any response be given to US messages.” This strong denial follows a report by Axios which suggested that Iranian officials attempted to reach out to the US but reportedly did not receive a reply.

The Iranian official further stated that the nation’s armed forces have prepared for an enduring confrontation in light of escalating tensions in the region. “Iran’s armed forces have prepared themselves for a long war,” the official said. This statement aims to counter any speculation regarding the possibility of backchannel negotiations as hostilities intensify.

Concerns from Israel

The prospect of communication between Washington and Tehran has raised alarms in Israel. According to Axios, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu reached out to the White House earlier this week following intelligence reports suggesting some contact might have occurred between US officials and Iranian representatives about a possible truce. Netanyahu reportedly inquired with US officials on Monday whether any discussions or exchanges of messages had taken place. Sources familiar with the conversation indicated that the White House reassured Netanyahu that the current administration was not engaging with Iranian officials behind Israel’s back.

A US official confirmed that dialogue between Washington and Israeli leaders has remained unwavering throughout the ongoing conflict. “They know we are not talking to the Iranians,” the official stated, emphasizing the transparency of US-Israeli communication during this period of heightened tension.

Reported Attempts of Indirect Contact

Additionally, The New York Times reported that agents affiliated with Iran’s Ministry of Intelligence have sought indirect communication with the CIA. This was purportedly attempted through the intelligence services of a third nation, aiming to discuss potential terms for ending the hostilities. On the other hand, US President Donald Trump publicly dismissed the notion of negotiations with Tehran. In a post on Truth Social, he commented that Iran has significantly diminished its military capacity, stating, “Their air defense, Air Force, Navy, and Leadership is gone. They want to talk. I said ‘Too Late!’”
