India Seeks To Enhance Medal Count On Day 2 Of Asian Games 2026

On the second day of the Asian Games 2026, India aims to improve its medal tally in various sports, with a focus on shooting events, which have already yielded silver medals. Following their successful start, Indian shooters will compete again in the men’s 10m air rifle events. The athletes Himanshu Dhillon, Parth Mane, and Rudrankksh Patil will participate in both the qualification and team finals. The individual final is set for 9 a.m. IST, pending their qualification results.

In addition to the air rifle events, India will also commence its participation in the men’s and women’s skeet competitions. Mairaj Khan, Anant Jeet Singh Naruka, and Bhavtegh Singh Gill will compete in the men’s individual and team skeet events, while Parinaaz Dhaliwal, Raiza Dhillon, and Maheshwari Chauhan will represent the country in the women’s skeet category. Both events will kick off at 6:30 a.m. IST.

Mixed Martial Arts And Team Events Take Centre Stage

Mixed martial artist Suchika Tariyal will also be competing on this day, facing Singapore’s Teo Hui Hoon in the women’s traditional 60kg semifinal at 8 a.m. Suchika has already secured a medal by advancing past the quarterfinals, and a victory in her semifinal bout will position her for a chance at gold. Her performance is keenly anticipated as she aims to represent India with distinction.

The Indian women’s hockey team will look to extend its winning momentum when they take on Indonesia at 9:30 a.m. After a commanding 19-0 victory against Uzbekistan in their opening match, the team aims to maintain their form in Pool B. Additionally, both the men’s and women’s kabaddi teams will commence their journeys in the competition on this day.

Furthermore, in table tennis, the Indian teams will face off against Pakistan, with the women’s team commencing their Group F match at 6:15 a.m. and the men’s team clashing with Pakistan at 3:30 p.m. This showcases a diverse mix of events, reflecting India’s broad participation in multiple disciplines.

Morning Action Begins Early With Various Competitions

The day’s events will commence at 5:30 a.m. IST, with Aadhya Tiwari and Jay Meena competing in a mixed doubles soft tennis match against Cambodia’s Viva Chao and Chanroseka Khun. Following this, Indian athletes will also engage in disciplines such as wushu, sepaktakraw, swimming, and boxing.

In swimming, Rishabh Das and Srihari Nataraj are scheduled to compete in the heats for the men’s 50m backstroke at 6:32 a.m., while Mani Akash and Gitesh Shah will participate in the men’s 50m freestyle heats shortly after. Dhanush Suresh will swim in the men’s 100m breaststroke heats at 7:06 a.m., showcasing India’s talent in aquatic sports.

As the day progresses, the Indian men’s badminton team will play against Bangladesh at 11:30 a.m. Additionally, the boxing event featuring Sumit against Bunjong Sinsiri will take place at 2:45 p.m. This extensive schedule reflects India’s commitment to competing across a wide array of sports, with multiple opportunities to secure medals on Day 2.
