A 30-year-old software engineer in Hyderabad was allegedly killed by her ex-husband, also a software engineer, inside her apartment. The victim, identified as Sunitha, suffered multiple stab wounds, and the accused, identified as Mahesh, reportedly struck her head with a flower pot. The attack took place around 12:15 p.m. on a Wednesday.

Details of the Attack and Motive

Authorities indicated that Mahesh, who had been residing abroad, gained access to Sunitha’s apartment and launched a violent assault using two sharp objects, believed to be a knife and a sickle. Initial investigations reveal that the couple finalized their divorce in 2024. Law enforcement agencies suspect that Mahesh held resentment toward Sunitha stemming from their separation, her recent remarriage, and a domestic violence case she had filed against him. Additionally, investigators are probing claims that the ongoing legal matter impeded Mahesh’s ability to travel outside the country.

Arrest of the Suspect

Following the attack, police promptly located and arrested Mahesh in the nearby area. He was taken into custody and is reported to have made certain statements during initial questioning. A case has been registered at the Vanasthalipuram Police Station, and authorities are continuing their investigation into the circumstances surrounding this tragic incident.
