Himachal Pradesh Government Implements Major Bureaucratic Reshuffle

In a significant administrative move, the Himachal Pradesh government has executed a reshuffle within its bureaucracy, affecting multiple Indian Administrative Service (IAS), Indian Forest Service (IFS), and Himachal Pradesh Administrative Service (HPAS) officers. The transfers are effective immediately and have been enacted in the public interest, as outlined in official notifications from the Department of Personnel.

As part of the reshuffle, several key officers have been reassigned to new roles. Sandeep Kumar, an IAS officer from the 2010 batch, is now scheduled to serve as the Divisional Commissioner for the Kangra Division based in Dharamshala. Prior to this appointment, Kumar held the position of Settlement Officer while also taking on additional responsibilities in the same capacity.

Duni Chand Rana, who belongs to the 2014 batch, will maintain his role as the Director-cum-Ex-Officio Special Secretary for Revenue and Disaster Management. In addition, he will oversee several other portfolios, including that of the Director of Environment, Science & Technology, the Managing Director of the Himachal Pradesh Marketing Corporation (HPMC), and will also handle duties related to state agro corporations.

Another significant change involves Ram Kumar Gautam from the 2014 batch, who has been appointed as the Director of Food, Civil Supplies, and Consumer Affairs in Shimla. Along with this new position, he will assume the role of Managing Director for the State Agriculture Marketing Board, taking over these responsibilities from Hemis Negi, an officer from the 2019 batch, who will be relieved of the additional charge.

Kumud Singh, also from the 2015 batch, has been designated as the new Director for Food, Civil Supplies, and Consumer Affairs. Vinay Singh, also from the 2015 batch, will take on the role of Managing Director for the State Cooperative Bank, based in Shimla, along with additional responsibilities tied to agro-related corporations.

In further changes, Manesh Kumar, a 2018 batch officer, has been moved to the position of Settlement Officer for the Shimla Division, while Akshey Sood, from the 2020 batch, will serve as the Settlement Officer for the Kangra Division, based in Dharamshala. Meanwhile, Dwij Goel, a new officer from the 2023 batch, will serve as the Sub Divisional Officer (Civil) in Paonta Sahib, located in Sirmaur district.

Within the IFS cadre, Pushpendra Rana from the 1999 batch has been named as the Director of Environment, Science & Technology. He will also carry additional responsibilities, including those of Director of Disaster Management and Member Secretary of the State Council for Science, Technology, and Environment.

The reshuffle extends to the Himachal Pradesh Administrative Service as well. Shawan Kumar, a 2008 batch officer, has been appointed Executive Director of the State Civil Supplies Corporation situated in Shimla. Raman Gharsangi from the 2017 batch will take on the role of General Manager (Personnel) in SPV Dharamshala. Manmohan Singh, also from the 2017 batch, has been designated as Assistant Commissioner under the Deputy Commissioner in Chamba.

Furthermore, Krishan Kumar Sharma, a 2019 batch officer, will serve as Sub Divisional Officer (Civil) in Sarkaghat. Gunjeet Singh Cheema, also from the same batch, will move to Manali in the same capacity. Raman Kumar Sharma from the 2020 batch has been transferred to Kafota in Sirmaur district in a similar role, while Akanksha Sharma, from the 2021 batch, has been appointed as Land Acquisition Officer for the Parvati Project located in Kullu. Lastly, Rajinder Kumar Gautam of the 2022 batch will serve as Joint Director in Digital Technologies and Governance in Shimla.

The focus of this reshuffle is to enhance administrative efficiency and improve governance across various sectors and districts in Himachal Pradesh, according to official statements.
