Haryana CM Inspects ‘Complete Street Initiative’ in Gurugram

On Wednesday, Haryana chief minister Nayab Singh Saini inspected the state’s first ‘Complete Street Initiative’, also known as the ‘Model Streets’ of Gurgaon in Udyog Vihar.

The street, comprising a 5-m-long pavement on either side, is constructed along Sanath Road and Gali number seven in Udyog Vihar, covering a stretch of 2.5 km with a width of 30 m. This road will connect the old Delhi Road to the Airtel office on National Highway 48. The project, worth around ₹43 crore, was funded by the Gurgaon Metropolitan Development Authority, the city’s civic body and Raahgiri Foundation. Other private partners such as Nagaaru, Maruti Suzuki and SafeExpress have also contributed to the project.

Saini said that the initiative will fulfil the state government‘s commitment that every section of the community, from children to the elderly, will get the right to walk safely and with dignity.

“Walking, cycling or taking the bus in Gurugram will no longer be just a necessity. It will be a pleasant experience,” said Saini. The complete street model will serve as an example for the entire country, according to the Haryana CM.
