Gujarat Board Prepares for 15.27 Lakh Students with New Exam Protocols

The CSR Journal Magazine

The Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board (GSHSEB) has announced its preparations for the 2026 Class 10 and Class 12 board examinations, with over 15.27 lakh students registered, marking an increase of nearly 97,000 compared to last year. The exams are scheduled to run from February 26 to March 18 across the state.

Exam Participation and Centres

Out of the total candidates, 907,175 students will appear for Class 10 exams at 1,006 centres across 87 zones, while Class 12 registrations include 119,263 students in Science and 501,286 in Commerce, with Science papers being conducted at 156 designated centres.

Security and Fairness Measures

The board has implemented strict guidelines to ensure fairness and transparency. Students must present valid hole-punched admit cards to enter exam halls, and remorse boxes will be provided to collect unauthorized materials beforehand. CCTV cameras are mandatory in all exam sections, and recordings will be preserved for review. Only authorized supervision squad members may carry mobile phones; all other students and staff must leave devices outside exam halls.

Student Instructions and Exam Rules

Students are advised to arrive at least 30 minutes before the exams. Class 10 candidates are not allowed to use calculators, while Class 12 students may bring simple calculators. All electronic gadgets, including mobile phones and smartwatches, are strictly prohibited in exam halls to maintain a level playing field.

This year, 7,170 students with disabilities are registered, including 4,877 in Class 10 and 2,293 in Class 12 Science. Special arrangements have been made to ensure these students can take their exams comfortably and fairly.

Support and Guidance

To assist students, parents, and educators, the board has introduced a helpline from February 12 to March 18, offering guidance on exam preparation and stress management.

As the exam period approaches, schools and centre officials are reminded to strictly follow the board’s protocols. With detailed planning and security measures in place, the GSHSEB aims to ensure a secure, transparent, and inclusive examination experience for over 15 lakh students across Gujarat.
