The discussions were held at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) campus, where he affirmed France’s dedication to facilitating greater student mobility.

Goals for Increased Student Mobility

Macron stated that the current annual intake of Indian students in France stands at approximately 10,000, with plans to expand this figure to 30,000 by the year 2030. In collaboration with Indian Prime Minister Modi, he detailed that France intends to simplify visa and sourcing procedures to make transitions easier for prospective students. He highlighted the objective of making these processes more practical and aligned with student expectations, thereby encouraging more individuals from India to pursue education in France.

Indo-French Campus Launch

During his visit, Macron, accompanied by Union Minister for Health and Family Welfare JP Nadda, officially launched the Indo-French Campus on Artificial Intelligence in Global Health at AIIMS. This initiative signifies a pivotal advancement in the cooperative efforts between India and France, particularly in the realm of healthcare solutions driven by artificial intelligence. The establishment of this campus aims to bolster research, innovation, and capacity building in global health, fostering deeper academic excellence and international partnerships.

Accessibility of English-Taught Programs

Highlighting the academic resources available in France, Macron assured Indian students that they would gain access to leading research centers and high-quality teaching. He noted the importance of interdisciplinary collaboration within French academic institutions. In an effort to enhance accessibility, Macron indicated that a variety of academic programs will be offered in English, making higher education in France more inclusive for Indian nationals. This initiative aims not only to support students’ educational pursuits, but also to ensure that they receive comprehensive and diverse academic approaches.

Focus on Student Support

In his remarks, Macron underscored the commitment to improving the overall support system for Indian students in France. He expressed a desire to create better connections and resources to assist learners effectively throughout their academic endeavors. The emphasis on practical solutions aligns with France’s strategy to attract more international students and foster a welcoming environment for those pursuing their studies abroad.

Future Implications for India-France Relations

The latest announcements reflect a concerted effort by both nations to strengthen their educational and cultural ties.
