The CSR Journal Magazine

FLY91 has officially begun its operations from Navi Mumbai International Airport, which took place on October 6, 2026. The airline introduced direct flights to four key destinations: Sindhudurg, Jalgaon, Goa, and Agatti. The inaugural flight from Hyderabad was honoured with a water cannon salute upon its arrival, marking a significant milestone in the airport’s service offerings.

As part of its strategic winter schedule, FLY91 is set to operate over 350 weekly flights to a total of 14 destinations. This expansion reflects the airline’s commitment to providing regional connectivity across the region.

The launch of FLY91’s services aligns with broader developments at Navi Mumbai International Airport, which aims to enhance air travel accessibility. The new airport is designed to serve as a significant hub for both domestic and international passengers.

Public Transport Enhancements at Navi Mumbai International Airport

Navi Mumbai International Airport aims to provide seamless multimodal transport options to its passengers. The airport facilitates access through various means, including buses, taxis, autorickshaws, and airport shuttles, thereby expanding its public transport network. The enhancements are designed to ensure affordable travel options for commuters in the region.

The airport’s public transport services are scheduled to begin on October 25, 2026, and will operate until March 27, 2027. The overall development is being overseen by Adani Airport Holdings Limited, which highlights a focus on creating budget-friendly travel solutions across Mumbai, Navi Mumbai, Pune, and the larger Mumbai Metropolitan Region.

In conjunction with these developments, the Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation is set to launch e-Shivai electric bus operations starting October 7, enhancing the connectivity around Navi Mumbai International Airport. The electric buses will run from early morning to late at night.

Connectivity Between Major Locations and Rail Links

The public transport framework includes multiple routes connecting significant points within the city. For instance, the Dadar route will connect through Sion and Atal Setu, while another service will link to Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport Terminal 1, Bandra, and Atal Setu. Two daily trips are scheduled to operate between Navi Mumbai International Airport and Pune, with additional links to Thane and Nashik scheduled to commence by mid-November.

Chalo Bus is implementing routes that will enhance accessibility to key locations such as Marol in Andheri East, Bandra, Dadar, and the World Trade Centre in Colaba. Adjustments to service capacity will be made during peak hours to accommodate demand.

Navi Mumbai Municipal Transport is also actively managing multiple routes, designated A1 to A7, that will connect Terminal 1 with various locations, including Kharkopar, Targhar, Belapur, Nerul, Panvel, Khandeshwar, and the Airport Project Office. Notably, buses servicing Belapur and Nerul will operate regularly every 15 to 20 minutes during peak times.

The terminal features a comprehensive transport network linking Panvel, Targhar, and Bamandongri railway stations, enhancing its connectivity to major roadways such as Atal Setu, Sion-Panvel Highway, Palm Beach Road, Amra Marg, and NH-548. While Navi Mumbai Metro Line 1 is currently operational, there are also plans for Mumbai Metro Line 8, which is expected to connect both domestic airports. Furthermore, airport authorities are collaborating with Adani TotalEnergies Gas to develop electric vehicle charging infrastructure on-site.
