120 Out of 100? Exam Error Sparks Chaos at MBM University in Jodhpur

The CSR Journal Magazine

A major error in the recent exam results published by MBM Engineering University has sparked widespread outrage, after second-semester Bachelor of Engineering (BE) students were inexplicably awarded up to 120 marks in a subject meant for 100. The blunder, briefly visible on the university’s website, has cast fresh doubts on the institution’s administrative and technical integrity.

Vice-Chancellor Confirms Error, Blames Testing Agency

University Vice-Chancellor Prof. Ajay Sharma responded to the controversy, confirming the incident and attributing it to an external testing agency.

“The results were immediately removed once the error was noticed,” Sharma stated, adding that “internal marks were uploaded accidentally for 15–20 minutes” during backend checks by the agency. A formal notice has been issued to the agency, and the university claims a factual report has been forwarded to the government by the registrar.

Student Union Steps In, Demands Action

The National Students’ Union of India (NSUI) has intervened, demanding accountability. Led by Dr. Bablu Solanki, NSUI’s Jodhpur District President, student leaders submitted a memorandum to the university.

“This is a matter of gross negligence,” Solanki said. “How could results be uploaded without basic cross-verification?”
The student body has given the university administration three days to take strict action and resolve the matter transparently.

How the Mistake Came to Light

The issue came to the forefront when BE students noticed inconsistencies in their mark sheets posted online. Some had scores far exceeding the total possible marks. Upon receiving multiple complaints, the administration swiftly took the results down but failed to issue an immediate clarification, which only intensified the confusion and backlash.

Recurring Issues Erode University’s Credibility

Students allege that this isn’t the first case of mismanagement by MBM University. Past complaints have involved result corrections, discrepancies in academic records, and delayed degree distribution. The latest incident, they say, is part of a larger pattern that exposes deep-rooted flaws in the university’s examination process.

“This shows how careless the administration is,” said one student. “No verification was done before publishing the results.”

Technical Oversight Behind the Blunder

According to internal sources, the issue arose during the grade sheet compilation, where internal assessment scores were mistakenly included with the final exam marks. This data input error led to inflated totals, some exceeding the maximum of 100 marks. Although the mistake lasted only minutes, its implications were serious eroding trust and prompting state-level scrutiny.

The Rajasthan government has taken note of the controversy, requesting a detailed explanation from the university. In response, MBM officials have claimed that a factual report has already been submitted by the registrar. Further developments are expected as government agencies assess the report and review administrative protocols.

A Result Sheet Turns Into a Crisis

What should have been a routine result announcement turned into a major embarrassment for one of Jodhpur’s most prominent engineering institutions. With mounting pressure from students, unions, and the government, the university now faces calls not only to fix the error but to reform its entire examination system to prevent such failures in the future.
