ESIC Contribution Provisions to Begin in 24 Madhya Pradesh Districts from October 1

The CSR Journal Magazine

The Employees’ State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) contribution provisions will take effect in specified regions across 24 districts in Madhya Pradesh starting from October 1, 2026. This announcement was made by the Ministry of Labour and Employment and publicised by the Press Trust of India (PTI). The official notification regarding this directive was released on September 22, 2026.

List of Affected Districts

The government notification specifies that the ESIC provisions will cover all areas within 24 districts that are currently classified as partially implemented. These districts are Agar Malwa, Alirajpur, Anuppur, Ashoknagar, Balaghat, Barwani, Betul, Chhatarpur, Damoh, Datia, Harda, Jhabua, Mandla, Narsinghpur, Panna, Rajgarh, Seoni, Sheopur, Shivpuri, Sidhi, Tikamgarh, Umaria, Vidisha, and Dindori. Notably, Niwari has also been included in this notification despite previously being identified as a non-implemented district.

The inclusion of these additional regions reflects a significant expansion in the reach of the ESIC framework. As a result, employers and employees in these districts will be required to begin contributing towards the ESIC scheme effective from this date. This decision aligns with the broader goals of enhancing social security for workers across more regions.

Details of the Notification

The notification has been issued in accordance with the third proviso to the First Schedule of the Code on Social Security, 2020. From October 1, contributions are mandated from both employers and employees operating within the designated establishments in the affected areas, as outlined in Section 29 of the provision.

This notification also indicates that employees in these particular establishments will qualify for benefits as specified under Chapter IV of the Employees’ State Insurance Corporation provisions. The move is an effort by the government to reinforce social security measures in the workforce, ensuring that a larger number of employees gain access to critical benefits.

The implementation of the ESIC contribution rules across these districts signifies a crucial step towards improving the overall welfare of employees in Madhya Pradesh. Beginning October 1, all related contributions and benefits will become operational, thereby extending the protective measures offered by the ESIC framework to a broader demographic.
