The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has announced that escalator maintenance is currently taking place at several stations along the Blue Line. This initiative is part of a series of routine safety enhancements aimed at improving passenger movement across the metro system. As per the advisory issued by DMRC, intensive maintenance work is being conducted on escalators at three specific stations, prompting the authority to encourage commuters to utilize the available lifts during this period.

Purpose of the Escalator Overhauling

DMRC routinely performs maintenance and technical updates on escalators and related infrastructure to uphold safety and operational efficiency. Given the high volume of passenger traffic, wear and tear over time necessitates this regular servicing. Officials have stated that the current overhaul is designed to elevate safety standards and ensure the escalators function optimally for daily users.

Stations Affected by the Maintenance

The maintenance work is being conducted at the following locations on the Blue Line: Karkardooma Metro Station, where the escalator between Platform 1 and the concourse level is undergoing servicing; Anand Vihar Metro Station, also focusing on the escalator between Platform 1 and the concourse level; and Nirman Vihar Metro Station, where the escalator connecting the concourse to Platform 2 is affected. These escalators will be temporarily out of operation while the necessary technical adjustments are made.

Advisory for Commuters to Use Lifts

Passengers passing through these affected stations have been advised to make use of the lifts available to facilitate movement between the platforms and the concourse levels. DMRC has confirmed that these lifts will remain operational and accessible for all commuters, including the elderly and those facing mobility challenges.

Temporary Disruption Aimed at Long-term Safety

While the escalator maintenance may lead to some inconvenience for travelers, DMRC has emphasized that this work is crucial for maintaining the safety and reliability of the metro network. The authority routinely updates its equipment to accommodate the heavy foot traffic that the system experiences on a daily basis.
