Entrepreneur and wellness advocate Upasana Konidela, wife of popular Telugu actor Ram Charan, has sparked an important conversation on marriage and women’s empowerment in India. In her latest social media post, Upasana addressed urban, educated women, urging them to view marriage and motherhood as conscious, empowered choices. She titled her message, “Find Your Ram – The New India Begins at Home,” highlighting a shift in how modern Indian women are approaching relationships and life.
Reflecting on her own journey, Upasana wrote, “I found my Ram early in life, but every woman’s journey is unique. There is no need to rush into marriage because of society or timelines. Wait for the right partner, or walk your own path solo—both are valid and powerful choices.” She added, “It’s no longer about needing a man—it’s about choosing a partner who respects you and sees you as equal. And that’s the mindset shift we need more women to embrace—though I know, it’s easier said than done.”
Upasana emphasised the importance of emotional maturity, stability, and mutual respect in marriage. She explained, “Marriage should be a conscious choice, rooted in love and respect, not a compulsion or a means to achieve social standing.” Recalling a class with a Harvard professor, she questioned, “Why do women marry when they no longer need marriage for status or companionship?” Her answer: “Because marriage, when chosen freely, can be a source of strength and partnership.”
Marital Conflict
Addressing the serious issue of marital conflict, Upasana cited data from the National Crime Records Bureau, noting, “Marital conflict is the third leading cause of murders in India. We must create healthier homes and relationships. Women can be the fulcrum of change for future generations.” She urged families and society to support women’s choices, stating, “Don’t force women into timelines for marriage. Give them the freedom and tools to thrive, whatever their choice may be.”
In her message to men, Upasana wrote, “Let’s teach our boys to manage emotions, set boundaries, and respect differences from an early age. True empowerment begins at home.” She concluded with a powerful reminder: “Marriage and motherhood are personal choices, not societal obligations. ‘Find Your Ram’ is not just about finding a partner, but about finding someone who celebrates your strength, treats you with respect, and walks beside you as an equal. For those who choose to wait or even remain single, remember—both paths are equally valid and empowering for the women of new India.”
Upasana Konidela’s heartfelt note continues to inspire women across the country to embrace empowerment, equality, and self-respect in every aspect of life.
