CSR Initiative to boost education initiatives in Gautam Buddha Nagar District, UP

HCLFoundation, which drives the corporate social responsibility agenda of global technology company HCLTech in India, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the District Inspector of Schools (DIOS) and Basic Shiksha Adhikari (BSA) of Gautam Buddha Nagar to strengthen educational initiatives across 72 government schools, including 18 inter-colleges and 54 elementary schools. This collaboration marks a significant step in HCLFoundation’s mission to promote inclusive, technology-led and sustainable education in alignment with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 and Sustainable Development Goal 4.

As part of this initiative, HCLFoundation also launched Mobile STEM and Digital Labs equipped with state-of-the-art digital learning tools, robotics kits and internet connectivity. These mobile labs will rotate between 12 government schools, conducting hands-on workshops and interactive STEM and digital literacy sessions for students in classes 6 to 10.

Shri. Manish Kumar Verma, District Magistrate, Gautam Buddha Nagar, expressed his appreciation for the initiative, stating, “This partnership with HCLFoundation is a significant step toward transforming the educational landscape of our district. The introduction of mobile STEM and digital labs will enhance access to quality education and inspire innovation and curiosity among students. We are confident that this collaboration will set a benchmark for public-private partnerships in education.”

“This initiative reinforces our commitment to bridging the digital divide and nurturing future-ready learners,” said Dr. Nidhi Pundhir, Senior Vice President, Global CSR, HCLTech and Director, HCLFoundation. “We believe every child deserves access to quality education that is engaging, inclusive and future-oriented. Through our partnership with the district education authorities and our implementing partner Katha, we aim to create safe and stimulating learning environments that empower students with critical thinking, creativity and 21st-century skills.”

Since 2017, HCLFoundation has been actively working in 41 government schools in Noida and Greater Noida, delivering impactful interventions. These include the installation of 24 ICT-enabled classrooms and seven digital labs, establishing three Young Kalam Science Centres and 28 reading libraries and renovating 15 schools and a sports complex under Operation Kayakalp. Robotics training has been introduced for primary students and assistive support has been provided to 48 visually impaired students. Over 6,000 out-of-school children have been mainstreamed into formal education and 53 School Management Committees have been strengthened. Students have also participated in district, state and national-level sports and science competitions, showcasing the holistic development fostered by these programs.

The MoU will enhance digital literacy, STEM education, sports, socio-emotional learning, environmental awareness and capacity building for teachers and school leaders.
