Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath underscored the significant textile heritage and industrial strengths of Uttar Pradesh during the UP Textile Conclave-2026 held in Lucknow. He asserted that the state is endowed with a skilled workforce, an extensive market, industrialisation, and entrepreneurial spirit, coupled with the youngest workforce globally. Adityanath emphasised the historical demand for textiles produced in India, particularly from Uttar Pradesh, which reportedly reached markets around the world.

Textile Clusters Representing State’s Capabilities

During his address at the two-day event, Adityanath detailed the unique textile clusters within the state. He referred to Varanasi’s famed silk sarees, Bhadohi’s renowned carpets, Lucknow’s intricate chikankari, and the diverse industrial ecosystem in Kanpur, which collectively portray the state’s rich heritage. The Chief Minister further noted the potential of Meerut for technical textiles and sports goods, stating these clusters are emblematic of Uttar Pradesh’s textile legacy as well as its industrial evolution.

Adityanath reiterated the state’s commitment to bolstering its textile sector by leveraging existing resources. He highlighted that Uttar Pradesh’s advantages include a skilled population, ample human resources, and the country’s largest market. By combining these elements, he expressed confidence in enhancing the state’s textile manufacturing and export capabilities.

The Chief Minister shared that there has been a remarkable growth of approximately fifty-six per cent in the exports of textiles, apparel, and handicrafts from Uttar Pradesh over the past six years. This growth signals the increasing prominence of the state’s textile industry within both national and global markets.

Engagement with Industry Leaders

In addition to his keynote address, Yogi Adityanath met with prominent entrepreneurs from the textile and apparel sectors. This interaction aimed to foster collaboration and innovation within the industry. During these discussions, the focus was on exploring new avenues for growth and further strengthening the textile sector in Uttar Pradesh.

The UP Textile Conclave-2026, which commenced on September 8 and is scheduled to conclude on September 9, is being held at the Indira Gandhi Pratishthan in Lucknow. The event has gathered a significant number of stakeholders from the textile industry, who are keen to engage in dialogues regarding advancements and future trends in the sector. Adityanath’s inauguration of the conclave showcases the state’s strategic commitment to enhancing its textile landscape.
