CM Yogi Reviews Development Plans, Flood Prevention, and Tourism Initiatives at Dudhwa Tiger Reserve

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath held a crucial review meeting at Dudhwa Tiger Reserve on Saturday, where he discussed ongoing flood prevention measures, tourism development, and district-wide initiatives. During the meeting, the CM emphasised the completion of flood control projects by June 10, urging the appointment of a nodal officer to oversee progress.

In his visit, CM Yogi planted a moulsari sapling at the reserve, symbolising his commitment to environmental preservation. He also toured the various stalls set up at the reserve, where he was warmly welcomed by Tharu women, a gesture that further underlined the region’s cultural heritage.

The Chief Minister was briefed by the District Magistrate about various development initiatives underway in Lakhimpur Kheri, which included updates on the law and order situation as well as the progress of ongoing infrastructure projects.

Developing Dudhwa as an Eco-Tourism Hub

One of the key highlights of the meeting was CM Yogi’s directive to the Forest and Tourism Departments to work together and create a detailed plan to transform Dudhwa Tiger Reserve into an eco-tourism destination. He set a 15-day deadline for the plan, which includes improving visitor amenities, boosting connectivity, and developing local infrastructure. The CM stressed the importance of attracting more tourists to the region and encouraged officials to ensure excellent facilities for visitors.

Additionally, CM Yogi urged the departments to prepare a strategy to increase tourist footfall at Dudhwa by providing year-wise statistics. He highlighted the need for better connectivity, the development of hotels, and the engagement of local residents as tourist guides to create a sustainable tourism ecosystem.

Flood Prevention and Law and Order Review

Addressing flood preparedness, CM Yogi reviewed the status of flood prevention projects and instructed officials to complete them by June 10 to prevent potential disruptions during the monsoon. He emphasised that a nodal officer be appointed to supervise the progress of these critical projects.

The CM also discussed the district’s law and order situation and instructed local officials to ensure a coordinated approach to development, involving both public representatives and local authorities. This would ensure that initiatives are carried out smoothly and in line with community needs.

Measures to Prevent Human-Wildlife Conflicts

In response to concerns about human-wildlife conflicts, the CM directed that solar fencing be installed around villages near forest areas. He also recommended that local villagers receive training on how to manage interactions with wildlife safely. Additionally, CM Yogi ordered joint patrols involving forest, police, and SSB personnel to curb illegal activities such as logging and ensure the protection of wildlife.

Innovative ‘Mission Maidan’ Initiative

During the meeting, the District Magistrate presented the ‘Mission Maidan’ initiative, an innovative project aimed at developing recreational spaces in schools. Under this initiative, ideal playgrounds have been constructed in 1,000 schools, and indoor gaming zones have been created in schools lacking open space. CM Yogi commended this initiative, calling it a positive step towards providing children with better facilities for sports and extracurricular activities.

Efforts to Rejuvenate Suheli River

The Chief Minister also reviewed the ongoing efforts to rejuvenate the Suheli River, which involves cleaning a 5-kilometer stretch as part of a larger environmental initiative. The District Magistrate informed the CM that work on this project is progressing steadily, and additional cleaning and drainage systems are being implemented through MGNREGA and the Irrigation Department to ensure long-term sustainability.

Key Attendees and Government Officials

The meeting saw the participation of several prominent figures, including Culture and Tourism Minister Jayveer Singh, Lakhimpur Kheri’s in-charge Minister Nitin Agarwal, Forest Minister (Independent Charge) Dr. Arun Kumar Saxena, and Minister of State K.P. Malik. Also present were Principal Secretary Mukesh Meshram, Commissioner Roshan Jacob, District Magistrate Durgashakti Nagpal, and other local representatives.

Through these initiatives, CM Yogi reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to sustainable development, tourism growth, and the protection of natural resources in Lakhimpur Kheri and surrounding areas.
