At least three people were killed while two others are missing after a cloudburst hit the Rajgarh area of Jammu and Kashmir’s Ramban district on Saturday. According to the concerned officials, the rescue operation is underway.
“ Around 12:30 AM, a cloudburst hit Brua Natna in Rajgarh. Two houses and a school building were hit as a result. Three people have lost their lives, while two still remain missing. Rescue operation has been launched,” said the concerned police official to the national media. The district administration has also mobilised teams to rescue and provide relief to the affected people.
Due to heavy rainfall, the Jammu region has recently witnessed mass death and destruction. From August 14–26, at least 138 people were killed in rain-related incidents in Kishtwar, Kathua and Reasi. The meteorological department is predicting one or two spells of rain and thunder at a few places in the Jammu division between Friday afternoon and the late night of September 2.
“ A spell of light to moderate rain at scattered to fairly widespread places with possibility of moderate to heavy rain and thunder showers at a few districts of Jammu division are likely,” said a meteorological department official to the national media. The official further communicated and advised the people to stay alert.
“ There is possibility of moderate to heavy rain and thunder showers at a few places of Jammu division during Saturday early morning till September 1 late night and September 2 early morning,” told the concerned official to the national media.
