Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has announced cash incentives for the youth ahead of the Bihar elections 2025. Bihar will go to the polls by the end of this year. Keeping the elections in mind, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar is taking steps to woo voters.
Under Bihar’s ‘Mukhyamantri Pratigya Yojana’ scheme, students qualifying Class 12, will get Rs 4000, ITI or diploma holders will get Rs 5000, and graduates or postgraduates undertaking internships will get Rs 6000 per month.
Apart from this, one lakh youth from the state will be provided internships in various institutions from 2025-26 to 2030-31. Those pursuing internship in various districts of Bihar will be given an additional Rs 2000. Those who work in other states will be given an additional Rs 5000.
Financial assistance to 5,000 students
The Bihar NDA government has announced that the internship period will be for three to 12 months. During this period, the financial assistance will be directly delivered to the bank accounts of the beneficiaries. The Bihar government is looking to provide financial assistance to 5,000 such students this year. The target is to increase this number to over one lakh after five years. The project will cost Rs 685.76 crore from the government treasury.
“I am pleased to inform that under the 7 Nischay-part 2 initiative, the Cabinet has approved and sanctioned funds for the implementation of the ‘Chief Minister-Promotion of Readiness, Awareness and Technical Insights for Guiding Youth Advancement’ scheme to provide Bihar’s youth with advanced skills, better employability, leadership development, strong networking, and new opportunities for career enhancement. This scheme will prove useful for the youth in shaping their future,” said Nitish Kumar.
Increase in pension for widows and elderly in Bihar
Recently, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar had announced a significant increase in pension for widows and elderly people in Bihar. Earlier, senior citizens, widows and specially abled citizens in Bihar used to get Rs 400 per month under the Social Security Pension Scheme. This was increased to Rs 1,100. CM Nitish had said that the people of Bihar will get the allowance at this increased rate starting from July. This decision is expected to provide relief to more than 1 crore 9 lakh 69 thousand 255 beneficiaries across the state.
The ruling JDU in Bihar is a partner in the BJP-led central alliance NDA. Bihar will go to polls in October-November. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has campaigned in the state several times before. Nitish aims to use the government’s development and people-oriented projects as weapons to counter the opposition RJD-Congress.
