CBI Inspector Arrested in Rs 2 Crore Bribery Case Seeks Bail from Delhi Court

The CSR Journal Magazine

A Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) Inspector, Deepak Phalswal, who was detained on March 10, 2026, in connection with a bribery case amounting to Rs 2 crore, has submitted a bail application to a Delhi court. Following his two-day police custody, he was presented before Special Judge Jyoti Kler at Rouse Avenue Courts on March 13, 2026. During the court proceedings, Phalswal’s legal representatives filed for bail while the CBI sought to extend his judicial custody. The court has scheduled a hearing for the bail application on March 14, 2026.

Details of the Allegations Against Phalswal

According to the CBI’s statements, the investigation into Inspector Phalswal commenced when a complaint was forwarded by the South District Police. The complaint was filed by Shubham Mishra at the Maidan Garhi police station. Mishra alleged that on January 22, an individual claiming to be CBI Inspector Deepak Phalswal visited his home in Mahabali Puram, Bhati Kalan, and demanded Rs 2 crore to “settle” an alleged complaint against him with the CBI. This led to the registration of a case and the subsequent arrest of Inspector Phalswal.

Legal Representation and Proceedings

During the court appearance, the defence team, consisting of Advocate Hemant Shah, Advocate Karan Mann, Advocate Vishal Mann, and Advocate Akash Chauhan, opposed the CBI’s request for judicial custody. Arguments were presented from both sides, highlighting the ongoing nature of the case as the court weighed the merits of the bail application. The proceedings were closely monitored due to the high-profile nature of the allegations involved.

Court’s Decision on Bail Application Pending

The court’s decision regarding the bail plea is anticipated on March 14, 2026, when both the prosecution and defence will have the opportunity to present further arguments. The case has garnered significant attention due to the implications of corruption within a key federal investigative agency, and the outcome of the bail application will likely influence public perception and discussions surrounding the integrity of government institutions.
