Bollywood and India Inc Contribute for Maharashtra Flood Relief
The state whose capital city houses major business houses, celebrities and crème de la crème of the country has been in distress because of severe floods. The total death toll in the past three weeks arising from flood or rain-related accidents across five districts in western Maharashtra has risen to 50 even as floodwaters have markedly receded in Sangli and Kolhapur. A majority of these casualties – 34 deaths – are from Sangli and Kolhapur.
In order to contribute towards relief work for the flood victims, several celebrities, banks and trade organisations have come forward to help the flood victims in the state, by contributing to the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund.
Legendary singer Lata Mangeshkar is among them who donated ₹11 lakh in CM’s Relief fund. Superstar Amir Khan not to be left behind contributed ₹25 lakh for the flood relief.

Hailing their gesture, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis in a tweet said, “Thank you @aamir_khan for your contribution of Rs 25 lakh towards #CMReliefFund #MaharashtraFloods.”

Besides, the Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation donated ₹1 crore, Kolhapur District Central Cooperative Bank ₹21.98 lakh, Hajrat Haji Abdul Rehman Sailani Shahbaba Trust, Buldhana, ₹5 lakh, while an organisation of citizens in Pune gave ₹7 lakh. The Urban Cooperative
Credit Society at Baner contributed ₹11 lakh and Shri Bhairavnath Devasthan Trust at Baner gave ₹15 lakh. Also, the Mumbai District Central Cooperative Bank Ltd contributed ₹21 lakh, Apna Sahakari Bank Ltd ₹25 lakh, Fruit & Vegetable Merchant Association and Retail Vegetable Trader Mahasangh ₹25.25 lakh, and Mathadi Transport & General Kamgar Union ₹30 lakh to the CM’s Relief Fund.

Earlier, Amitabh Bachchan and Mukesh Ambani-led Reliance Industries Limited also donated for the floods. While Big B donated Rs 51 lakh, RIL contributed Rs 5 crore towards CM’s Flood Relief to aid rehabilitation work in flood-hit Maharashtra.
